Cup of Jones - November 3, 2020

Just your average producing several reviews and a Showcase before celebrating a wedding anniversary and then moving to a completely new house and then covering the launch of two gaming consoles kind of week, am I right? What could possibly go wrong. We’ve been working with our copies of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X to produce as much next-gen content as we possibly can. Although it’s sweet that we have access before these systems officially launch, there are still limitations to what we can produce, and while I can’t go into detail I’ll talk today about reasons why and how we’re trying to work around it. For today’s editorial I’m going to briefly go back through the generations and talk about what I did and did not own and when.

Hey there Jones, What are the chances that we'll get a heartfelt farewell to the rental house? We've had a lot of great memories there that we'll never forget. In all seriousness though, good luck with the move and I hope the new house treats you and the family nicely! Be safe this week and take care, Brian from Happy Gaming

Hey Jones, Just sat listening to the podcast and reading through Reddit where I saw a post that Formula Rossa, the fastest rollercoaster in the world, at Ferrari World, is 10 years old today. It's a ride I really hope to get to sooner rather than later, and I'm anticipating it to be an incredible experience after riding it's younger brother, Red Force at Ferrari Land in 2018. It got me thinking though. What is the first Disneyland Attraction you're going to take Milo on when he gets old enough? Cheers, Harrison

Must be frustrating to get access to these consoles early, but can't go in full details still

Some of my fondest and first gaming memories are from the Panasonic 3DO, we couldn't afford to buy one but every month we could rent one for a weekend. I would play Road and Track and record some of my runs on a JVC VHS recorder. I made a tape of my best wipe outs and fastest runs. Wow, that makes me feel old.

Hi, Jones. Thanks for answering some of my questions last week. I didn't meant to get into personal question territory, so I sincerely apologize for that. All I wanted to know is if the Allies were taken care of, health wise, which you answered. And which makes me happy, as the well being and health of all of you are essential to us in the community. I'm also happy that you all will be taking a long break. That was one of the things that had me worried for a while now, specially after you talked about how hard you worked and how little rest you had, which you mentioned it was the nature of the business. I had even written a question about the Allies taking a month of vacation, so this is great. In the end, I'm just happy you all are healthy and will take some well deserved vacation. If I worry sometimes, it's because I love you all and care for your well being. I wish you all the best. L & R

Hello Brandon. Can you say a few words on your personal experience of Watch Dogs: Legion? (The things you usually add to the patreon post of your review.)

Hey Jones! It's my first time posting a question but I've been watching yall for a while now. Just wanted your thoughts on the allies conducting more interviews outside the usual game developers. With gaming being as mainstream as it is today, is it possible to have more interviews with celebs, athletes, or other media personalities to discuss their interests in gaming? Kinda Funny currently has "we have cool friends" but I believe the allies have the potential to produce something even better. Love and Respect!

I think I remember Jones mentioning that there is some communication and allowance for this channel. I could be mistaken though. I think the question would then become if Jones is comfortable having their content used in this way.

There seems to be some confusion. EZA Weekly Clips is a fan project that the Allies have no involvement with.

Mr Jones. I often enjoy the EZA Weekly Clips on YouTube. I think it is a very aproachable way for new viewers to get to know the EZA team but since Kyle's departure something strange has been taking place. Kyle continues to be featured and quite prominently to boot. While I enjoy his inclusion and love seeing what he's up to I feel like I am left with questions. 1- If Kyle continues to stream and cover games, why not do it as part of EZA or even just in partnership with EZA because he will probably still be focused on his own plans. 2- Is this on brand for EZA? Kyle has a great personality but is him being featured on an EZA highlight show not going to be confusing for new viewers? Personally I would love if Kyly could visit or even return but I am a little confused about his current relationship to the Allies. Respectfully, Mirgan Mohalla Link for reference. https://youtu.be/Kk2O_Z1kzvQ

Hey Mr. Jones! Going off of what you touched on in your opener last week (and is already evident in the unboxings/Patron Party), with EZA slowly integrating back into the studio, I was curious if it will be for next gen content only. Once EZA has reached embargo and releases the content, will it be back to all Allies back home once you come back from Holiday break, or will select Allies continue to safely and sparsely reintegrate the studio in their respective projects? I know you’ve stated at the start of working from home there won’t be a universal plan nor will it be sudden and be subject to each Ally, but I guess I just was curious if the time has come (helped by next gen consoles) where we’ll see a little of the studio now. Thanks as always for reading. Have a wonderful day and Cheers! P.S. Happy (belated) Anniversary to you and Mrs. Troop! QUESTION: With EZA slowly utilizing the studio, is it strictly for next gen coverage or are some Allies beginning to safely reincorporate the space into their normal projects/work? Even if it’s temporary, I’m happy to see EZA use it again, even if it’s only a little bit.

Business question - With you taking a much deserved break for the holidays, are there plans to have content pre-recorded to tide fans over during the month of December? If not, are you worried that people may not pledge for that month if they know that there wont be any new content? Personally, I hope people pledge regardless because you beautiful bastards deserve it.

First time I played a PSone was renting it through Blockbuster! I later worked there as my first job in highschool. Such a fun place to work, man... Good times.
