The Sun Sets (Partially) for Fiasconauts and Rises on Fast & Loose

Hey everyone!

Ian here with some sorta sad news and some fun news! I’m writing to let you know that we will be moving Fiasconauts off of a monthly rotation and onto a more occasional special event sort of thing. The show hasn't been getting enough views to justify keeping it on a regular schedule, but we do enjoy it and I’m sure we’ll still stumble into a Fiasco now and again.

I know this will come as sad news to some of you, but Fiasconauts won’t be gone forever, we’ll kinda just do it when we feel inspired to do it, and have the time.

Ok but what’s the good news?

In an effort to increase the value for our patrons we will be re-introducing The Fast & Loose Internet Talk Show as a monthly Patreon exclusive! And, (flying in the face of everything the show stands for) our patrons will get to ask questions at the $5 and up tiers that will be chosen at random without reading them beforehand for a section of the show that I haven’t come up with a name for yet (and probably won’t.) So if you like wackadoo off-topic shenanigans with the allies and sometimes guests then this will be the show for youuuuu! It’ll go up for Patrons at the end of each month and remain just for Patrons forevvverrrrrrr! I hope you like it.

Mandatory Update Nights and all those "fast and loose" conversational episodes are some of my favourite content. Makes me feel like I'm just hanging out with you guys in a chill, low key way!

Fabulous

Lots of love to you Ian! I enjoyed Fiasconauts so much, but think it’s good to make it something less regular and hopefully more special when it comes. Really hope you keep working with JLV! She’s amazing.

See You When I Get There

I think The Fast & Loose Internet Talk Show shouldn't take questions from patrons. It should take statements from patrons.

Alexander Zyryanov

On the one hand, I am upset by this sudden turn of events, as Fiasconauts is one of my favorite series.... On the other hand, the last time something like this happened, we had a break from Huber Syndrome and got both Prison of Love and Hunting Huber out of it. Change and taking a break are always good things.

R.F. Switch

Fast & Loose sounds like a lot of fun! Can't wait to see what that show looks like monthly

Tim, King of the Monsters

I have been a patreon since day one and I got to say this news suck, I have followed you guys since the gt Era and I got to say a few things about fiasconauts, the first time I heard of them I was mad and angry I thought they were taking time from tte or tta, but as time went one I decided to give it a try, and I was surprised with show, the characters the ideas that you guys came up with the character names, the plot twist, flash backs, me hopping for character to have God or bad endings. With every episode you keep winning me over to the point where I was looking foward to next month, every guest that you brought or ally was a different dynamic you had me always wondering who would you bring next and if this was the month that we will finally get to see Don cazanova with this show Ian you earn my respect I got to enjoy the different settings for each fiasco also Jessica thanks for doing an excellent job as a co-host.... Oh men the stories you guys came up with 10 out of 10 well from a hater to becoming a fan , funny feeling this time I am not mad, for fiascounauts had a fun run but this time I am sad for fiasco nauts is gone. Thank you Ian, allies and guests who made this show possible L&R

Damn. New to the community and only started watching Fiasconauts last year but loved watching it every month! I am happy you decided to at least keep it around now & again. Haven't watched Fast & Loose as yet but I'll be there to support it. Hoping that it gets good view counts.

Miguel

I completely understand! I love Fiascos, but it's been harder to keep up with all the podcasts while working from home since my commute was when I listened. I'm looking forward to the talk show returning though!

Garrett Hulfish

I enjoyed the few episodes of Fast and Loose and I haven't finished an episode of Fiasco in like 2 years so this is a win. Jess needs to remain a regular though and you gotta throw a nickel or 2 to Kyle to get him on every few episode's..... or every episode...

Kaleb

Oh sad... Fiasconauts and TTE/A were what got me into you guys. But I can't deny I dropped off watching in the last year. Zoom fatigue probably the biggest thing, Kyle leaving, a change in my own circumstances - it's a show that I liked to really pay attention to because I hate missing bits, and it's just been hard for me to do that every month! Also, this is just me but I found it a bit hard to get through the set-ups in the JLV era? She's great in the actual improv bits, I just find her a bit stressful to listen to at times. I suppose recently the sexual stuff stopped being amusing and just became kinda grotty and depressing, like a 70s British movie? I dunno, I don't like to criticise because what I *like* about it is that it's just friends hanging out being dumb and following their guts. Just something in the vibe for me, I guess, stopped it being the first thing I watch every month, and then it backlogued on me. So I do look forward to its triumphant return, and by then I'll hopefully have watched all the eps I missed and realised the errors of my ways hahaha. L&R

Samuel Cardwell

I know it was addressed earlier but audio versions please (sounds like it's in the works!) I loved Fiasconauts as someone who randomly tried it out after Jones talked about it on Cup one day. Loved it! But I love the Talk Show too so I'm excited to see what this brings!

For years Fiasconauts was a highlight of the EZA release schedule for me, but to be honest I think it lost a little too much when Kyle left. I always liked how he would come up with a new character/accent/attitude every episode and was always ready to add some chaos/wildcard energy to every story. I started watching less and less after his departure, but I liked the last few Fast and Loose Talk Show eps so glad it's getting more spotlight.

Cash

We've already had a few Fast and Loose episodes and they're pretty great. I would say that Fiasconauts also hasn't worked as well over Zoom as it did in person. It was missing something that was obviously out of control. And if people aren't watching them, it makes sense to give it a rest for a bit.

ZeoVGM

I’ll be honest: Fast & Loose better be good. I trust you guys, but I’m worried. I really don’t like that Fiasconauts is basically getting benched. Fiasconauts and Tabletop Escapades had a niche audience... I get that. But, man... it was what made Easy Allies unique! There was so much LOVE for storytelling in those shows! It got so much creatice juices flowing! I get why you focus on the numbers. But right now, losing Fiasconauts makes EZA more like every other piece of games media. That is not a direction you want to go with a channel thrives on it’s community. So: Fast and Loose better be GREAT. Otherwise, I’ll be depressed.

Bram

Damn, this is brutal, as Fiasconauts, Frame Trap, and the occasional stream and Easy Update are largely what keep me tethered to EZA these days. Fiasconauts has been a monthly highlight since I became a patron. Hopefully "occasional" is more than once a year.

Daniel Matos

For me this is a win, as i only very seldomly watched Fiasconauts and loved the talkshow. Looking forward to it! Appreciate your work Ian!

Djazzy

I've been hoping that Fast & Loose would become a regular show for a long time now. Super excited for this. AND super excited for when you all are back in the studio and can do the show in person because that will be fun as hell.

ZeoVGM

i'm fine with it, I like fiasconauts but only watch it about once a year or so.. there's such a backlog for us that having some time to try and catch up is good

David Warren

Never really got into Fiasconauts, but I'm diggint the idea of the FLIT Show. You guys keep reminding me to re-up my patreon with these announcements of late...

Corrigall

Yeah please make sure to release an audio version. Also, I would have liked "Gen that Was" to have an audio version.

She'll be guesting on this month, and then appearing as a guest here and there moving forward, but not on every episode.

Easy Allies

Jess will be on the one for this month but won't be on every episode, no.

Easy Allies

Its funny this happened now, I was just rewatching some of the old Fiasconauts in the garage and they were amazing. But I think the show really lost a lot of the fun when it went on zoom (even though the last couple were very funny). Hopefully it can come back more often once allies are back in the studio and can get another fiasco with Ian, Jones, Huber and Ben

Faraz Rizvi

We can upload it to the Patreon RSS feed thing yeah, it won't go on megaphone since it's Patreon exclusive so it won't end up on Spotify etc. But we can do audio here yeah!

Easy Allies

Sure!

Easy Allies

Fast & Loose isn't "about" answering questions. Ian will likely just toss a question or two in randomly between the chaos. -Bloodworth

Easy Allies

While I'm definitely going to personally miss Fiasconauts when it's done less, I'm more curious about what differentiates Fast and Loose from the Patron Q&A if both are about answering questions from Patrons. I understand that one medium will allow for a lot more guest hosts and possibly provide for a more comedic and irreverent show all around, it just makes me curious as someone who already participates every month in the Q&A. I also hope that Jess will remain a permanent member of this new show as well.

Happy Gaming

As long as fiasco doesn’t completely go away I’m excited. Please make sure there will be audio versions for this new show! The main way I consume your content is through podcast form!

Oh, ok... :(

Kif

Awesome! I'd call the new segment "Thoroughly Researched", to compliment the "fast and loose" concept

Proto Gambit

The talk show sounds awesome

WesFX

Aw man. There goes another fun storytelling content unlike anything else you guys do, for another podcast. I understand though. Love you Ian!

ZatVunDoot

What about Jess? Will she be part of the fast n loose thingy? I really sure do hope so, fingers crossed.

I usually enjoy Fiasco when I do watch/listen to them but they weren't really something I ever looked forward to or seeked out, if I'm being honest. I generally have to be in a really specific mood to get into them and have plenty I haven't listened to yet anyway so I'm overall fine with the decision. There have been some pretty great moments and its always fun seeing the crew get creative but like other comments have mentioned the show really works better with everyone together in person anyway. Now, fast and loose on the other hand has some great potential. Man Ups Nights the fast and loose Ian hosted randomly occurring podcast from back in the GT days was one of my favorite things you guys did. So overall I'm pretty happy with the decision. I feel for the really big Fiasco fans in the community, I'm sure there are plenty of them but this is mostly good news for me. Whatever it is you want to do Ian, I will always give it a shot.

Thwap23

Just wanted to add my voice to the cacophony of "boos". Yet another thing COVID has taken from us.

Sean Dupree

Can you just keep fiasconatus perpetually in the "Also in the works" section of the site. It would be accurate.

César Villa

Hype!

Sid Raghunandan

Excited for Fast & Loose! Keep making awesome stuff. L&R

I love Fiasconauts, but I think Fast & Loose is really something special. I'm excited to see what you do! Stay healthy. L&R

I’m really disappointed that Fiasconauts isn’t a monthly thing anymore. To be honest I like Fiasconauts way more than fast and lose. It was something I looked forward to every month and is one of the main reasons I’m a patreon. I‘m just really sad and disappointed to see it become something that is probably not going to happen more than twice a year.

JG

I'm also sad about this news generally, but I understand completely. I think Fiasconauts also, perhaps logically, works better when done face to face in real life. Cannot wait for a Fiasconauts where you are all in the studio together! And besides the sad news, I am also happy the Fast & Loose Internet Talk Show is back. :-) Thank you for the update!

Backlog Crusader

Distraught at losing monthly Fiasconauts, elated at gaining monthly Fast & Loose. It is really tough to do improv through Zoom, so I'm surprised you stuck with it as long as you did in during this time of social distancing. Thanks for sticking with it, and having it be spontaneous special events will make it that much more exciting when we do get a new episode. Also, I foresee some very strange patron questions in the future for Fast & Loose.

Brittany Fuller

I love Fiasconauts and even I haven't watched much since mid-2018. I at least have a lot to catch up on, but I don't have time to view a 2-3 hour improv game anymore.

M I K E Y M O

Sad news. Fiasconauts was definitely my favorite show from EZA right now. I do question the need to cut it if it's monthly and only takes 3-4 hours a month to shoot (with barely any editing) and if you guys still enjoy playing the game. Hopefully, we'll see more of them in the future. Is Jess going to be a permanent guest in the Fast & Loose show as well?

MaxVSTheGames

Booo and Yeyyyyy at the same time! Just keep being yourself guys and we are all happy. 😊

Project D.A.D.

RIP to (monthly) fiasconauts, thanks for all the fun allies! (and Ian especially). I think I haven't seen the latest one yet so I feel personally responsible for pushing the viewcount over (under?) the edge. hyped for the fast and loose internet talkshow! now I have to think of juicy questions.

Mark van Dijken

My favorite part of fiasconauts are all of the random side conversations that Ian and Jessica seem to always get into with or without their guests so this is pretty much good news for me.

Soratos23

I'm really sad to hear this, but I also kind of understand; as much as I've still been enjoying the online Fiasconauts there's something lacking when the players aren't in the same room (also a few of the episodes have gotten extremely Thirsty). I hope you'll consider reconsidering when (if) EZA ever makes it back to the studio, as I think interest might perk back up once you can get the players back around the table again, though I wouldn't mind it alternating with Occassional Board Game Show. Excited to have more Fast & Loose, wish it didn't have to be so bittersweet though. On that note, I'm pretty sure I promised to riot if this ever happened, so please expect an incredibly awkward one-person riot in about six to eight years if I can be bothered.

Haravikk

Oh no :(

Evan

Shoot, sorry to hear that Ian. Looks like views dipped after City of Coin which is about the time I stopped listening too. I'd revisit old episodes often and couldn't get into the newer episodes. Jess brought a bad vibe to the show I couldn't get over. L&R

While this is some sad news, to be honest I get it. I love Fiasconauts, have seen basically every episode, and rewatch it somewhat regularly. However to be frank, I've been a lot less interested in the show during the COVID era. There's just something about improv over Zoom that just doesn't hit the same. So I'm alright for now, but holding out hope we'll see a glorious return of the show when the studio enters the picture again!

Arnesh Nagavalli

I've watched all fiasconauts even the GT ones at least 4 times each. This hurts man, but whatever it's not my show. Honestly didn't think fast and loose was a draw, but like I said whatever I'm not producing the shit. You do you Ian I'm with you all the way.

JRMX

What terribly sad news to wake up to I think I'm going to go back to bed and set my alarm for when the next Fiasconauts comes out I love you though Ian everything you do is unique and special too many favorite moments from this amazing run to count. Here's to creating more of those memories with a new regular show 💕

Luveen Rupchand Wadhwani

Understandable... I generally love Fiasco but at least it isn't going away completely. Don't have strong feelings towards Fast and Loose but extra value is nice.

Jeremy Farbman

Certainly understand the idea behind the swap. I have been falling behind on Fiasco shows for a while (think am 4-5 behind now). I do tend to get to them eventually, but am very excited for a new talk off the cuff show. My only question is if it can still be in audio format too as 80% of my EZA content consumption is during commuting! Looking forward to it!

Graeme Hill

As someone that listened too everyone one of these. I’m sad I won’t get too hear one of these each month when playing a time draining grindy part of a game. But understandable with the views. But at least they aren’t entirely gone. But know ian that Fiasconauts with forever hold special memories for me. I can’t tell you how special it was too get too meet your father and the autocrator. Too me they were precious snapshots of creativity one can create in life. All hail the venomous bitch the greatest super hero. Thank you

Matthew Palling

Been loving Fiasco since the GT days but I can tell interest has been waning. There's been a gaping hole since Kyle left imo. He was always good at introducing random crazy elements in each Fiasco that threw a wrench in the works for drama and humor. I'm hoping what's next will be fun for both allies and patrons alike.

I'll miss a regular Fiasconauts but love Fast & Loose so this is cool with me.

Simon Wallace

Just to include my feedback, I had never watched a Fiasconauts show, but I love what we've gotten so far of Fast & Loose. I don't know why I never got into Fiasco. It's the Allies being funny, and it includes guests. I'd say maybe because it isn't video game related, but neither is Fast & Loose, so... I dunno. I bet most Patrons watched it, I'm likely an outlier, but I'd also bet most non-Patrons weren't.

Pixillated

Attack of the Clones is the best Star Wars Movie

Harrison Holt-McHale

Bummer but also COOL!

DualOrange

Can we get audio versions of Fast and Loose? :)

We'll always have Regina's wedding and the 5 point plan. I'm seriously going to miss Fiasconauts. Thanks for all the work you've put in to it these last 5 years. Maybe you could find some 5 minute Fiascos to fit in the Fast and Loose.

Andreas Kleanthous

I think it might be easier to get in the mood for a fiasco when people are back in the studio too. Fiasconauts was probably tough as hell over video calls

Mags Moratto

Really going to miss not having any free-wheeling creative outlet to enjoy with Fiasconauts getting effectively shelved. :(

Kirbu

Damn it. I know this happened because Huber dropped the ultron 9000 at Regina's wedding.

Michael Baker

Last and Foose

Mags Moratto

I feel bad, but I couldn’t keep up with fiasconauts, it’s a great show but hard to have in the background, to get more out of it I needed to pay a lot of attention. I’ll definitely try to submit fast and loose topics for you guys.

Samuel Hall

I’ll miss Fiasconauts, but i totally understand the challenge of gathering everyone for upwards of 3 hours in the middle of all of your schedules. I am already excited for the moment the inspiration does eventually come and we can see Fiasconauts again!

Ouch, total bummer. I love Fiasco.

Understandable and I'm excited for the Fast and Loose Internet Talk Show. Was just thinking the other day that you guys don't have a podcast that's not exclusively video games. I know people sometimes bring other stuff to frame trap but it's a fairly irregular occurrence.

Olf Himself

Fast and Loose is like an off-topic spur of the moment talk show.

Josh Read

Love getting Fast and Loose

Brandon Ray

Sad to see it go, but Fast and Loose is fantastic and the kind of content I want from EZA. So overall I'm all for it!

Josh Read

This is a bummer, although I do understand why. I’ve recently been going through all the fiascos for the first time and it inspired me to try it with my friend group and we’ve been having a blast, so at least theres that!

AlTheScientist

I super fell behind on Fiasconauts and when I do listen I never finish an episode - sometimes I never get past the set up; not anyone’s fault, just newer podcasts show up in my feed and I don’t get back to it. One of my favorite shows from GT was “Mandatory Update Nights” which is essentially “Fast & Loose”, so I am thrilled by this change across the board. I am sorry for the hardcore Fiasconauts fans though.

Robert I.

All for it ian. Although one of my faves at easy allies. Makes sense try something new. Fast and loose baby!! Hyped!!

Druobo

I love fiascos And I'm sure they'll become more of an event in the occasional format. And of course i will be attending any talk show fast and/or loose. Love and respect.

I understand the change and looking forward to what ya got cooking.

Danni-H4

That is a bummer. Also, what is the difference between this and the $20 Q&A each month?

Sad to see Fiasconauts go somewhat but excited for more Fast and Loose! Can we hope for the rare/occasional Kyle appearance?? Please talk/ask him about it lol

Mellow Felloh

Welp. There goes my favorite Easy Allies thing. What a bummer. I appreciate the memories though. Thanks for keeping the show around as long as you did. Was always a highlight of my month.
