VTT Grid

Hello all, happy October!

Random poll for those of you who play VTT (virtual tabletop): as someone who typically does not play via technology, when you're using my battle maps to do so, do you typically prefer to have them with the grid already, or without?

By my understanding there are often options for both regardless of platform, so please vote below and let me know!

Gridless with a calibratable grid would be amazing.

Zachary Little

If you are going to be gridless, it would be helpful if you have a square 3x3 grid key in the corner so we can calibrate the grid.

Sean Schraidt

I use gridless, but I like knowing what it was designed for (30x20 or whatever) so I can line it up properly to scale.

Both to please all.

Anders Bersten

Having a pre-gridded map is quite difficult to align properly without a neat guide to help :D

More than a grid, just a 3x3 guide or a square to align the rest of the map is enough.

100% non-grid. Trying to get maps to align with the built-in grid is a pain.

Roll20 already has a grid, so we don't need a grid on our maps. As far as I know most virtual tabletops work the same way. However, if you make VTT versions please don't lower the resolution on VTT versions, we want them as detailed as they can get.

Fritter Mouthfull

In roll20 it's less of a pain to just simply drop a gridless map and scale to my preferred size than to try and align both grids. Although I do like the idea others have shared of having a "scale" in the bottom corner of the map just to get a sense of the the recommended size at a quick glance.

I like to simply use any grid size that seems adequate. Aligning existing grids with VTT ones is a pain.
