I come from Quebec (french canadian) and I had a hard time understanding Bill’s accent. I wonder if cajuns really speak like that. They are descendents of the Acadian people (New Brunswick and Nova Scotia), whom have an interesting mix of English and French in their Chiac accent.

A can with a spring-loaded mechanism shooting cash out of a can with chlorinated brown water given a foul smell in the can to make it look and feel like a real can? That just sounds like you're begging for trouble... No wonder Coke ended the campaign early... Chuck was recently on an episode of the Cerebro podcast (“Where a homosexual and his friends explore the history of homosuperior!”) specifically episode 99 on Nurse Annie Ghazikhanian. In the episode Chuck explains his time writing for the X-Men line and what may be his long lasting contribution to comics and no I’m not talking about the Draco or She Lies with Angels storyline, Nurse Annie Ghazikhanian (Nurse Annie), An Armenian nurse who becomes an huge ally to the X-Men during this time. Chuck explains early on in the episode that there was a production break in the middle of KOTH seasons 4 & 5 where he was unsure if the show was getting renewed or not and he was having trouble getting more tv work since KOTH was non-Union. So he tried his hand at writing War Machine and this led to him writing X-Men, this was also during a time when we had 3 x-titles running concurrently. Austen wrote the (Uncanny) X-Men line while Grant Morrison was on New X-Men, and Chris Claremont in X-Treme X-Men. As for the reason Chuck left Marvel comics and the X-Men well it was because of Wal-Mart, the store had a deal going on with Marvel at the time to sell comics in their stores and with this came editorial restrictions on what was and wasn’t allowed to be shown. Having revisited this arc of X-Men now has me wondering what influences and ideas Chuck had on Steven Universe, especially considering the themes of surviving a genocide, trauma, racism, and homophobia that do come up during his X-Men run.

2025-05-22 01:20:47 +0000 UTCMy uncle won $1000 dollars from what I remember was a "talking beer" can maybe from Canada's molson brand? He showed it to me before he collected the prize money. The can itself was weighted to try to give it the feel of a normal can but you could tell it was different right away, then when you popped the top it was the same technology that existed in children's books when you turn the page. The irony he had spent WAY more than a 1000 dollars on beer but it was still interesting.

The method of delivery was a slightly shorter can of actual Coke with a false top that opened to reveal a small compartment that held a circular game card in it. My can contained a prize for $125, which I had $10 to certified mail to Coke to redeem my prize. I remember being ticked off by that.
