Talking Simpsons - Lisa vs. Malibu Stacy With Rebecca Sugar

"Millions of girls will grow up thinking that this is the right way to act. That they can never be anything more than vacuous ninnies whose only goal is to look pretty, land a rich husband, and spend all day on the phone with their equally vacuous friends talking about how damn terrific it is to look pretty and have a rich husband!" - Lisa Simpson

Malibu Stacy speaks for the first time, and her sexist sound bites inspire Lisa to track down the doll's creator and develop a feminist alternative. Meanwhile, a run-in with TV's Matlock causes Abe to enter the competitive world of fast food if only to avoid ending up a tired, old freak like Andy Griffith.

Our guest: Rebecca Sugar, creator of Cartoon Network series Steven Universe

I just got the double meaning behind “you’re quite good at turning me on”

I’m from Eastern PA and despite visiting Hersheypark many, many times and knowing much about Utz and PA Dutch country pretzels, I didn’t realize that that whole area was called the pretzel/snack belt. Stay away from Reading, PA though, nothing good comes from there

I think that they are by far the least corny band that mostly sings about video games and someone should get them in touch with Rebecca lol

Also an episode that inspired another Dankmus banger! https://youtu.be/ecFilUIs32E

Reminds me of my days working at Toys R Us, second only in obnoxiousness to the Hot Wheels guys that would try to get us to open up boxes in back so they could buy the "treasure hunt" cars were the Barbie Collector's Edition shoppers. The figures would be displayed in a glass case in the girls section, but to buy one you had to go to the video game department where we would have to get a ladder to bring them down from overstock. The customers would have to examine every single box to look for imperfections, and get mad when there wasn't a flawless option to buy.

in regards to abe I think my favorite episode of his is season 30's "mad about the toy". might be viewed as pandering and maybe out of character for abe but I think it's such a sweet episode with a good ending. I'd like to hear you guys discuss it but it's so far away 😭

I think the new version of train sets is retro console setups. Seeing how people organize all there consoles, the cable management, the different styles of tvs and cabinets. I think half the fun is the installation and look of your setup.
