As you may have read, big news in the states as we transition from one President to another. I think we can all agree it's been a hell of a year, but it's not quite over yet. During the month of November I'd love to explore some of the more fabled paintings I've done.
To start things off, the picture featured in the header is brand new! Many of my earlier paintings only ever saw a few edits released. I'm trying to change that and share some of the hidden gems that were just plain missed. Michael McDonald was one of those gems.
The incredibly detailed Shadow of the Colossus is one of my all time favorites.
Would you like to hear some behind the scenes details?
For the edits that were shown online, I often desaturated the moss in post because the natural greens were too bright against the soft aquamarine. Compare the first photo featured to this zoomed in picture below. Of course, this was before the days I sprayed moss with color hairspray (a neat trick for my other artists out there).

I would go a step further though, and enhance the eyes to make them glow. I did similar with elements of the body, to make them seem more rune like.

The photo that became well known, making a sizeable splash on Tumblr and social media. Do you remember this somber beauty?

But there is more to this story... Like why was the below photo part of it?

Well my friends, would you like to hear about the tales of Colossus?
