Ty Monzingo - Part One

Tyler and I have a long history together. After I did my first body painting on William in 2013, we discussed doing a piece together. We didn't have a lot of time for our first session, and I didn't have the best materials. It was a mixture of liquid makeup from Party City and acrylic paint. That means it often cracked and displayed a rough surface.

Nevertheless, the piece was well received, and we went on to produce a dozen body paintings together. He became my muse for many years, so I'd like to explore some of our background together.

The above was considered the "edited" version of the piece. It's what I shared on Facebook to showcase the art. However the process to get there was a difficult one, as the supplies I used were not the greatest and this was still a new medium.

Blending was very hard, and I was a new photographer, so please forgive the step down in quality. This was my second painting EVER!

We only had a couple of hours to paint this, and there was a HUGE learning curve moving from canvas to bodies. I cannot stress how different it is to work with humans. Joyous, but different.

I don't showcase much of these pieces anymore because I'm kind of embarrassed about the quality. However everyone has a beginning, and I wanted to share some of mine. Hope you enjoyed this feature!
