Finale for issue 41! The girls got out, but at what cost?
So, a few things. I'll be working on the second draft of Issue 26 soon and it probably won't take too many drafts after that before I'm ready to begin. However, I'm going to need a break from comics - and art in general - for a few weeks at the beginning of October, so the start of the next issue might hit as late as Halloween.
I hesitate to tell this to too many people but you beloved paying Patrons deserve to know that Issue 30 is now the planned end of the Order of the Black Dog. I've plotted out a somewhat vague outline of issues 26-30 and plan to stop making comics in general once all that is done. This project was planned to be something much too big to be 100% wrapped up in four issues, but I'm hoping to wrap enough plot lines up into a satisfying bow by the end.
After that? Unless something big changes, I'm very likely going to be done doing webcomics. I started my first comic, Concession, in the middle of 2007, which means I've been doing a comic nearly every weekend somewhat consistently for fifteen years. By the time BD #30 is done, I'll likely be nearing 40 years old. That's a long time doing comics and I'm pretty tired, I'm worn out and nowadays comic work doesn't bring THAT much to one's life either creatively, socially, or financially.
On the way to the end, we're hoping to stick with this somewhat monochrome-ish so that pages can be done easier or faster. I still want to put in the detail these pages and scenes deserves, but I need to simplify the process for my own health and sanity. So, expect a lot of pages in the future that look more like how this issue ended rather than how it began.
So! Stay tuned for the finale of Order of the Black Dog, 2-3 years in the making.
