Sketchbook piece 💖

Exploring different angles of faces and hair types 🤗 Which one do you like the most? And which one do you think would make a good digital piece? 🤔 On a side tangent, I just wanna say that developing a style has always been a struggle for me but personally just drawing a lot of random faces (especially from references!) has really helped me start to find a style. I would love to hear what helps you! ✨

Cannot choose ! they all look great and have their own something !

Oh my gosh I love Lee White!! And that exercise is so cool 😄 I definitely believe master studies are super helpful, I do them as well! It’s cool cuz you can learn techniques really quickly just by observing and studying consistently 🤗

Lydia Elaine

I love the bottom, right one. As for style, I've done an exercise suggested by Lee White which he calls the 'dream portfolio'. You pick around 15 pieces of art that you adore and then you sit down and analyse what it is about them that you love. You then do master studies of them to try hone in on those things. I think it's working...slowly... :D

Thanks Lani!! I think that’s a great point too, it’s important to remember to enjoy the process 💖

Lydia Elaine

I definitely don’t have a specific style, I’m trying to just do as much learning and practicing as possible and enjoy the process. I’m not at the level I want to be with my art, but I know I’ll get there if I keep trying and style will come along the way :) And these are all fantastic but I think the bottom left would look really nice digitally!

Lani

Omg I totally get where you’re coming from!! It’s like an overload where so many things look cool and you want to make art that looks like all of it 😂 I’ve heard it’s actually helpful to gather tiny details from artists’ work you appreciate and incorporate it into your own work when you’re trying to develop a style 🤗 and I’m planning on sharing various techniques/brushes I use so you can hopefully benefit from it!

Lydia Elaine

Aw thanks! 💖 I feel like I’m leaning towards that one as well 😌

Lydia Elaine

Haha that’s awesome and honestly so true! Nobody’s line will be quite like your line. We all have our own unique and original approach to drawing in general :) I find it really interesting to watch styles grow and change too 💖

Lydia Elaine

Hehe good to know! And that’s a really good point too. I love seeing other artists’ processes and hearing how they developed their style, everybody seems to have a different way of getting there 😌

Lydia Elaine

As for the art style part, I’m still struggling a lot with that cause I like so many different things but I just don’t know the techniques or brushes or colors to reach what I want 😩

Rose Castle

These are all so so pretty! I definitely would love to see all of them as digital pieces, but maybe I would start with the bottom right corner one!

Rose Castle

looks really really nice!👌❤️ I think the bottom right one would look great as a digital drawing✨ I personally still wouldn't say that I have a specific art style but I think that generally everybody has their own personal style because everybody has a different view of the world and so everybody draws in their own way✨ but yeah idk I don't worry too much about in which style I draw, I just draw lol

Mailin

These are all so beautiful, but I would love to see the top one turned into a digital piece ☺️ I haven’t really found my style yet, but it’s definitely come a long way. I find learning about other artists processes that I admire has helped me really narrow in on a style that I’m getting happy with! 😄
