Video Critique & Draw-Over! (001)

Hey Dragonflies! Are you guys having a good week so far? :)

I'm excited because I made my very first video critique! This is an exclusive tier reward for Patrons that are in the Devoted Dragonfly tier ($10). These critiques are special because if you choose to send me one of your pieces (one per month), I will not only give a critique but I will also do a "draw-over" to make moderate adjustments and give you an idea of what you could do differently in the future (you'll see this in the video)!

If you are interested in a video critique, here's what you need to know:

And that's it! You will also get access to everybody else's video critiques like this one. I hope you enjoy watching it!! ~

Haha awesome!! 😄💖

Haha yeah, that’s why it really depends on the artwork! I’ve seen black used really successfully and I use it too sometimes because black is just a cool color 😂 But I guess art school people say not to use it in realistic skin tones because black has gray in it, and gray has the ability to make skin look “dead” and it can take some of the life out of the colors around it somewhat. I’m shocked people got F’s for using black in your high school though! There’s definitely no rules against using it 🤷🏻‍♀️

I don't get the black issue. I mean, I understand it does not exist in nature, blabla, but it's art! I love black, I wanna use black. 😩 Maybe you could explain a bit more why you're saying gray is killing a piece? I heard it so many times before. My art teacher from highschool used to give us a F if we used black, that's how serious she was about this, but I never understood it. 🤔

I'm watching the video now, half way through. I love how you explain the change of the original shape. I knew about this, but it's like...now I reaaally get it! 🤯

Yesss oh my goodness it makes such a difference!! it’s a Blue Snowball mic and I love it because it picks up a lot of sound clearly, which is awesome for my small voice 🙈

Ahhh I really appreciate that! Thank you for the feedback! 💖 I know it’s hard to give and receive critiques because of that; art is just very naturally sensitive to its maker. I’m happy I struck a balance, thank you so much!

And congratulations on getting a new mic! What type is it?

I really like how you critique. Very real yet not rude! And how you change it to still fit the artists style not just change it into your piece. I really appreciate that! Cant wait to see more! ♥️✨
