Happy Thursday everyone! π
I realized I haven't shared much of my rough work with you guys, so here's a really rough and messy page from my Inktober sketchbook! This was a quick 15 minute warmup session just to get my creative thoughts flowing before working on another inktober piece. I learned an exercise in one of my art classes when I was in college where you draw "automatically," without thinking or planning, and just create freely. At first it's a difficult exercise to practice if you're a perfectionist, because the whole point is to ignore perfection and fine detail. Once you get past your perfectionism though, it's a very liberating practice and I totally recommend it once in a while! It's basically mindless doodling and really helps your thoughts flow, especially if you're in an art block πβοΈ
Anywho, if you're interested in seeing more of my messy work in the future let me know! π
And if you're curious about the concept of automatic drawing, it's called Automatism in the fine-art world and the formal definition is this: "The avoidance of conscious intention in producing works of art, especially by using mechanical techniques or subconscious associations."
Hope you're all having a lovely week so far!!
Love,
Lydia
