Vote for this month's Tutorial Video! πβ¨
Added 2021-05-10 16:07:16 +0000 UTCHello again! π»
It's time to vote for the tutorial video you'd like to see this month! π I went through all your comments on our Feature Friday post and picked out 4 different options that were the most requested! β¨ There are two Mermay-themed options and two regular options :) but I'll still be drawing mermaids for the examples in each video, so I guess they're all kind of Mermay-themed! π
Something to note: I usually post the monthly tutorial video by the end of the month since I put a lot of research and time into it, so bear this in mind if you'd like a Mermay-themed tutorial! π Mermay will be almost over by the time I post the video, but I think it will still be fun and useful because we can draw mermaids and water scenes all year long πβ¨
πHere are some brief descriptions of what you could expect to see in each tutorial:
- Underwater Scenes: This tutorial will cover underwater scenery and how to render water! We'll draw reflective water surfaces, a simple underwater ocean scape, and then I'll show you how to apply those techniques and draw a mermaid in an underwater scene! β¨
- How to Draw Mermaid Tails: In this video we'll be sketching, coloring, and rendering unique mermaid tails! I'll show you guys how to use references of sea creatures and fish as inspiration for designs that will make your mermaid tails look interesting and original β¨
- Lineart: Techniques & Sketching Tips: For this tutorial I'll be sharing my best tips and techniques on lineart! This will include how to build up your sketch layers to reach a clean & sketchy look, thick vs. thin lines, and more. I'll be drawing mermaids in this tutorial as well! β¨
- How to Paint Different Skin Tones: In this tutorial I'll lead you through the process of how to color and render multiple skin tones! Everyone's skin tone is different and there are hundreds of tones out there, but I'll show you how to paint a spectrum of them! Bonus: I might include how to render blue skin as a special Mermay treat πβ¨
And that's it!! Thank you so much to everyone who contributed suggestions for this month's tutorial topic, I love reading them all and I make sure to write all of them down for future ideas! ππ I can't wait to see which topic you guys choose, I'm so excited for each one! Have fun & happy voting! π

2021-05-11 10:44:40 +0000 UTCWas split between underwater scene and lineart, went for the one I would use more often. But I truly hope the underwater scene comes back as an option later on. Thanks so much Lydia for letting us take part in those decisions! π

2021-05-10 17:37:06 +0000 UTCskin tones would be really cool! but all the 4 options are good! aaaaa can't choose π
2021-05-10 17:00:04 +0000 UTCWould it be it possible to do all these tutorials but in order so the one with most votes would go first and the one with least last ? I'm looking forward to seeing all of them

2021-05-10 16:53:36 +0000 UTCHowβre you gonna expect me to choose between line art and skin tones? Thatβs just cruel! π€£
2021-05-10 16:39:42 +0000 UTCThough it's obvious what's in the lead, really hope skin tones wins. π And I love the idea of a blue skin tone to keep with the mermaid theme π

2021-05-10 16:27:36 +0000 UTCYour written descriptions made each of these sound so useful and awesome! It was a tough decision. I chose line art but, I know you recently went to draw fish and seeing how you translate that inspiration would be very cool.
2021-05-10 16:27:28 +0000 UTCI honestly want the underwater, tails and skin tones π

2021-05-10 16:18:41 +0000 UTCI'm torn between lineart and skin tones. I have a palette that I use for skin tones, but I would like to be able to make my own. Have this person more cool and that person more warm. Also fantasy skin tones!!!!
