I'm an idiot...

Sorry guys, I literally posted about the new patron video, and forgot to include a link! Like I said, still no metadata or thumbnail, but I'll get on that just as soon as I finish up my next vid. Sorry about that :(

For more than a few days I was stuck on the question of whether the game was benefitting or not from being a game rather than a movie. I think what rubbed me the wrong way was seeing commentary around how it "proved games could convey a story" seemingly just because it succesfully attempted pathos in cinematic aspect. That's never a small achievement, but I felt the game didn't use any techniques that were unique to gaming to convey those emotions. It felt like the characters in each camp felt like they were trying to find/keep a connection in the midst of being "the last of us". So when these characters go out and mass-murder a bunch of guards... well that's pretty frustrating to see, and thanks for helping me assign a word (ludonarrative dissonance) to this thought. I wonder what the game could've done to capitalize on having the player be frustrated at killing hundreds of guards, perhaps by including the character as someone to experience that frustraton, or somehow change the game loop to avoid that entirely. Or at least have the game acknowledge that the characters are orphaning a bunch more Ellies and Abbies, dangit.

I assumed that last post was like an annoucement of an announcement lol

No need to apologize for such small thing, creating great content is already difficult as it is! <3
