For my Pokemon builders!

As you all know we include both a pin and plug versions of each life sized model, but as you could imagine that is very time consuming to do. So we are taking a vote to see which one you all use more and we will stop using the other.

Me personally i like the pin version as you use less supports and the pins work very nicely.

Haven't printed one of the Poke models yet, but I am going to go on a limb and say that the pins would be good for full size, but what about if you make the models smaller? Would it become more difficult to print smaller pins and then be easier for the plugs?

Chance

I like the idea of the plugs but think pins for the win. I just usually end up having to do 1 pin at a time or set them to print per object to prevent them from all being messed up. Mine likes to smack one near the end otherwise 🤣

You would have to look and compare the files to fully understand it

Mitch Massey

I’m new here. What’s the difference between pin and plug ? Have you some capture ?

Joël Kolly

Just printed squirtle pin version. Using 3/8 craft dowels from walmart and they fit just fine. I like the pin version due to less supports.

Brian Trenton

That’s great you can size with model. Planning on trying soon.

Zin Master

Pins come with the model. You just have to print them

Mitch Massey

This might be a dumb question but what type/size pin would you use?

Zin Master

I’ve only printed pikachu with “plugs”. Next one will be with pins. Not voting because I can’t base an opinion without testing both.

Patrick Babineau

When I do print the pins I print them at 95% and they fit perfect

Erick Roos

I just recently printed Eevee with plugs as my first pokemon life size print. I've noticed the plugs I'll need to sand and cut some of the edges just so it can plug together evenly. Thinking to try pins next time but I was worried about the strength or breaking them

Nickalas McIntire

Both work fine, but with plug it takes more support becuase the plugs are attached to the models where pin version, the parts are smooth and dont need the extra supports

Mitch Massey

I always print pin versions but rarely even use pins. Gloop sets so fast and hold perfectly.

Erick Roos

I havent had the chance to print any of them yet, but I assume pins fit better than the plugs?

Richard Stewart

Less supports are always good too 😂

Mike

Yes that happens to me, in any case just print one test and then size the pins up or down to make them fit. I did that for my charmander and worked out great

Mitch Massey

I haven’t had a chance to print either yet but in past experience pins don’t always print the greatest on my Elegoo and take some extra effort for fitting, but pins are still better then no guide at all

Mike
