I really do appreciate this, no one had mentioned anything! I didn't recognize it to be Leif smh and I was so confused on how this was just glossed over so at that time I had to find out through an episode recap lol

He saw a child who resembled Thorfinn and Leif thought it was actually him for a moment. Leif doesn’t know he’s with Askeladd so it’s entirely plausible for him to think Thorfinn has become a slave.
