Color Sliders v2 is coming out soon! Redownloading the pack packages will be recommended.

Hiya! Mizzie has been maintaining Color Sliders mostly by herself recently. I wasn't feeling well for the past few months, but I've been feeling better as of late, so I stepped in to get the texture files fixed.

Color Sliders is getting a major version bump sometime after the UI file update goes live, as the packages required for EA content to be recolorable have been completely remade!

All clothes and hairs are being updated to fix the June 2022 file format change, which lead to bugs such as this where the clothes would seemingly melt on the sim's body.

When this texture update is released, it's recommended you re-download all the packages for the categories you want from the packs you own and delete the old files. 

And currently in this next release there will be no patches files, unless a sudden patch makes changes, as all previous updates are now included in the new base files. But when the next game update with texture changes comes the patch files will now be much smaller and manageable. Instead of downloading large patches that affect all packs, you now only have to download patches for packs you own.

That was the main motivation of remaking the base packages. As time went on from the original January release date last year, EA kept patching more and more items into the updates. This led to a longer period of time between updates on our side, and much larger files.

No one wants to download 2 GB of textures per update, especially for packs they may not have, so this major update should allow for much smaller download sizes from now on. This will also allow us to make updates quicker and more consistently.

As of right now the file sizes remain mostly the same:

The entire game is about 18.4 GB for the following categories, note that Nails are now properly separated, unlike before where they were part of the Patches package for base game. The Body Hair packages are new as well.

The base game for example, is only 3.5 GB for all categories, with most of it being consumed by space for the hair textures, which are 1.8 GB.

The update for textures comes sometime after the UI update goes live, as we need to update the posts with new instructions and such. Until the texture update is released it is recommended you don't download any of the texture packs if you happen to buy new packs in-between then or are new to using the sliders.
