I think the only person who has a right to be this upset is joyce, bc she has just found out about the slayer thing and then lost her daughter. everyone else is being insanely selfish. willow seriously has the nerve to be like "i'm going through stuff too" bc shes dating a werewolf now, like girl really??! buffy had to kill her boyfriend, got expelled, was wanted for the murder of her friend, and then got kicked out by her own mom. they all expect her to be perfect and just bounce back bc shes the slayer and she constantly suffers trauma after trauma, but ultimately she's still just a teenager like the others. xander saying "thanks for ruining our lives for the past 3 months" clearly shows they all put WAY too much responsibility on her, if her being gone "ruins their lives," like jeez. i know they're teens too, but my god, have some empathy, guys.

But they were particularly odious in this episode, especially Xander who didn’t have a single reason for attacking Buffy except his sense of entitlement. He acts as if Buffy owes him her heroism. If you notice he never makes an argument on his own behalf as Buffy pointed out. Willow’s reason for avoiding talking to Buffy and then blaming her for not being there for her barely makes sense. It’s all about her. Cordelia is being Cordelia. Oz is his usual zen self. I’ve never blamed Joyce for being upset and reacting the way she did. Giles was just wonderful.

2025-01-03 00:21:37 +0000 UTCI’m glad you were quick to catch on that we’re dealing with teenagers who just as often as not have no idea how to express their bottled up feelings.. many fans hate this episode for how the Scoobies laid into Buffy but it’s never bothered me as much because I (and many of my friends) had just as many communication issues in our teens and it didn’t mean we loved each other any less, just typical teenage bullshit

Like you said communication is key. I've always enjoyed this episode I love zombies, Giles is great and we don't just move on from Buffy's 3 month absence like it was nothing .
