2025-03-13 03:02:25 +0000 UTCI have loved the Novel Shogun since I read it as a teenager in the 70's. Then in 1980 the first mini series adaptation was shown on network TV and it took my breath away at the time. At first I was reticent about this remake and it took me a minute to really appreciate it. They have changed several things from the original novel including some character names and the whole production is much darker and more raw. However it really is a first rate show and I now appreciate most of the changes. The acting is great and the camera shots and sets are amazing. I hope you enjoy this descent into the politics of the Japanese Court and Catholic Church of the 1600's. It is all based on real events and people including the first Englishman to reach Japan although the historical names have been changed.
