I think the whole fan base hates Xander because Joss Whedon said himself he is a version of himself. I think people forget all the goods he’s done are forgotten. He’s not entirely bad.

2025-01-24 17:14:50 +0000 UTCSMG and DB bring their A game in this quintessential Buffy episode written and directed by Joss Whedon of course. The perfect balance of drama and comedy. The scenes involving the rest of the cast are also very well done. Willow and Oz. Giles and Angel. Faith and Buffy. The glimpse of Xander awful family life. Only Cordelia is a little bit sacrificed but we just had a Cordelia centric episode. Even Joyce have a small moment to shine.

Maybe his children were the toddlers Dru and Angelus went out to find at the end of I Only Have Eyes for You. It's a toss up as to who had the scariest hair. London Angelous or Buffy's bangs.

2025-01-24 02:03:22 +0000 UTCThis is one of those episodes where I enjoy the parts way better than I enjoy the whole. I was never a big fan of the Buffy/Angel relationship, and the whole idea of Angel standing on a hill top waiting to die, whilst Buffy begs, and cries, and does the whole melodramatic teenager bit; only for Angel to be saved by the Christmas miracle of snow, yeah not really my thing. Also the build up of The First being this major idea of literal evil incarnate, then Buffy just kind of sasses at it, yeah has always felt a bit odd to me. The things I do like about this episode are the moments with Oz and Willow, Giles seeing Angel again for the first time since he became Angelus, Faith showing up for Christmas, and basically all of the other character moments that don't involve Buffy and Angel. Behind the scenes trivia. Robia La Morte, who played Jenny Calendar, had become a born again Christian by the time she reprised her role for this episode. Apparently she agreed to do the role, before she actually knew what that entailed, and she was very not happy when she found out she'd basically be playing what she saw as an incarnation of Satan. She probably should have read the script, or at least an outline, first I guess.

2025-01-24 01:44:53 +0000 UTCGreat reaction, I think you made me like this episode more than I usually do. It is a Joss Whedon written episode. As much as he is an a-hole, he is a good writer. Buffy's line when she drops into the hole with the Bringers - "Ok, one more minute of chanting and then you all have to go to bed", is one of my all time fav funny lines of hers. Cracks me up every time.
