Buffy The Vampire Slayer 3x15 | Consequences

My full reaction to Buffy Season 3 Episode 15 "Consequences".

It's always funny to me to see people shocked that Faith is...well...Faith. She arrived in Sunnydale a selfish liar and stayed that way.

I've always loved Faith's character... and would have liked to see more of her backstory. I don't think she's had the best of childhoods/life so far, and has had to rely on only herself from a very young age. With how she's acting with Angel and the whole 'That's what they all say, then it's 'just let me spend the night... won't try anything...' makes me think she's been taken advantage of pre slayer-strength... I think part of her is looking for guidance... validation and perhaps even a bit of a parental figure even if she might not know it herself. Anyway sorry for babbling...

There's only a few years between Cordelia and Wesley in real life, not sure how old the characters are. (They thespians were 29/33 respectively at the time)

Trick’s death is so cheap! Faith seeking out the mayor to replace him gives it a little weight but I’m with the other commenters that he went too soon and without enough pomp & circumstance for the cool character that he was

RIP TRICK 😭 I hate that he went out so soon, he was one of my faves. I wanted him to reoccur like Ethan. Like he didn’t always have to be around but pops up every once in awhile. SEE HOW THEY DO BROTHAS IN THE DALE 😭

I'm just a hater lol

Nice to see you appreciate the layers of the villains in this one. Synder, Mayor, Allan, even Wesley - The way they trigger you is tough to watch sometimes, lol. What did they do to you, man? What can we do to help? 😂😂😂(j/k) I'm here for it all ❤

This episode does have interesting moral questions. I think you’re right that Faith was initially burying her feelings & isn’t an evil person; she just made a reckless mistake and handled the fallout badly. And like Buffy said Faith does want help but doesn’t know how to say it. The fact that Finch worked for the mayor lends to the theory he was evil too or at least complicit but beyond his character or intentions in the alley, I don’t think Faith deserved to go to jail for accidentally killing him; It’s hard to say because if it had been a kid or someone else… Willow or Xander that she killed I'd probably feel differently... Faith was too reckless but she also has a point that she’s saved many peoples lives and will save more outside than if she’s in prison. Faith is defensive and pushed into “turning evil”, turning to the dark side with the mayor to avoid punishment/responsibility for the murder. I also think she was partly thinking to work as a double agent… things get very complicated. Choking out Xander was crazy though.

Trick was gone too early. He was an entertaining villian. Faith going to the dark side is such an interesting direction to go. Especially as we know she is still somewhat conflicted but wanting to survive.
