Since they had Will say in the first episode that he's probably Autistic (Asperger's is no longer a diagnosis) it's likely that he has comorbid conditions (most Autists do...but a lot of us have a hard time understanding the signals our bodies send us and an even harder time communicating them to medical professionals who often don't listen to us anyway) I am Autistic and an ADHDer...I also have the hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome...they're kinda the unholy trinity of comorbid conditions for neurodivergent folks. POTS is a form of dysautonomia...which is a disorder of the body's autonomic nervous system (aka the thing that is supposed to take care of things like regulating your blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, etc.) My body sometimes cranks on my internal heater when it should crank on my internal cooling. If I do something remotely physical on a hot day...I will have sweat pouring off of me and pass out. This also means that sometimes when I'm sleeping...when your autonomic nervous system is supposed to facilitate activating the parasympathetic nervous system (which relaxes and slows your body down) and suppressing your sympathetic nervous system...(the flight or flight part)...it fails to do so. So a nightmare leads to the sympathetic nervous system (which should be suppressed) taking the reins and my body physically experiencing the trauma of running for my life...heart rate shooting up, temp rising... I have had to get up and lay a towel down so I had a dry spot to fall back asleep more times than I can count. In short, dysautonomia is likely at play there.
