2025-03-15 15:34:20 +0000 UTCVampires can eat and drink stuff other than blood in the Buffyverse, but they can't taste it very well. It is strange that Angel is drinking coffee though because he said in 'The Prom' that the caffeine makes him jittery. Perhaps it was decaf. It also seems strange that caffeine would make a vampire jittery or that the poison the doctor gave Angel would have an effect given that vampires have no circulation, but it is consistent with the tranquilizer dart affecting vampire Willow in 'Doppelgangland'. I like to think that whatever allows a vampire to move around as if it weren't a corpse also makes their blood flow despite the lack of a heartbeat, but it's probably best to just accept that the vampire mechanics in this universe are a little absurd.
