2025-03-26 21:33:27 +0000 UTCSo without spoiling, after the 26 episode initial run there were two movies released, both in 1997: Death & Rebirth and End of Evangelion, I haven’t seen Death & Rebirth but from what I can find online it’s mostly reused footage from the series episodes with some extra scenes added for context or clarification, probably worth a watch but doesn’t seem too critical, and End of Evangelion is essential viewing but it’s basically a reinterpretation of the final two episodes of the series, because they ran out of budget and the final two episodes are kind of a mess, pretty much just still images with dialogue over them and super confusing.. I’ve seen some series fans recommend not even watching the final two episodes and just going straight to End of Evangelion after episode 24 but any true fan would never do that 😁 and then sometime in the late 2000s they made 4 movies that are titled like Evangelion 1.0, 2.0 etc - these are movie remakes of the show but pretty similar aside from some rearranging and changing some characters around
