Less than 2 weeks away!

Hi Patrons!

We're only 12 days away from the world premiere of Violet vs Dummy, our first Gildedguy Tale! I have a lot of milestones and progress to announce, so read on!

Animation Progress

With just a few days from release, the team and I have been ON TOP OF THINGS! We are:

• 100% done with the animation (no more character drawings!)

• 100% done with ink & cleanup (no more tracing and coloring in!)

• 100% done with the backgrounds (no more Bob Ross'ing!)

That means we are 100% done with production, and are firmly in the Post-Production phase of the project. Keep in mind that I've been working on a lot of Post-Production in tandem with the previous phase, so we're nearly complete overall (>95%).

Credits & Cameos!

The only remaining tasks for the animation are Compositing the ending, adding in the credits, and inserting Patron cameos! The ending composites should not take too long, thanks to my compositing macros mentioned in last month's post.

The real fun part will be finishing the credits scroll and adding cameos of some of YOU guys in the backgrounds!

I spent a few hours tweaking a special shader in Blender (the 3D program we're using) to display different 2D images depending on the angle of the camera. You may have seen this effect in certain 2D/3D style games like Doom or Octopath.

It was a lot node switching and experimentation, but I think I got it working exactly how I want! It even tints the characters dark and gives them reddish eyes to blend with the crowd.

With the shader all set up, Rebonkulous and I will be personally drawing all of the Super Supporter Cameos in 3 angles to best integrate your characters into the backgrounds (where ever possible).

Final Polish and Gala Prep

The next 12 days will be busy for us, since in addition to finishing the animation, we'll be preparing for the 2nd GildedGala featuring Cirque Du Dummy! It'll be a lot of fun and I hope I can get a trailer out with more details to ya'll soon!
