I'm catching up on the old casts - so for any future Latecomers, a couple thoughts: 1) The Amen Bros do a great job contrasting Ned and Robert's viewpoints in the Small Council session, but one thing I'd add is that Ned knows that Rhaegar (probably?) didn't abduct Lianna and Robert doesn't. It doesn't excuse Robert's attitude, but it explains it a little when you realize that to Robert, the Tagaryns are a poisonous *family* who stole and raped his love and ruined his perfect adolescence, and to Ned, Aerys is one particularly bad king with an apparently pretty good son. 2) Jeff is still too mean to Barristan. It's worth noting that *Ned* thinks Barristan is doing the right thing by keeping his Kingsguard oath.
