Animation Underway + Lotsa Illustration

[The following post contains no story spoilers.]

Hi Patrons,

Here is your 2nd August update for what I have been working on. The first dozen scenes of Story 7 have been animated, half of which are inked already. We're still establishing a unique rendering style for the opening, something I'm being very strategic about, since the intro alone is going to be longer than any of my other works (>3 & a half minutes long). We're playing around with rough hatching, and a purposefully muted color palette.

Rendering concept by Soapy

Although it still feels like "the beginning", the long production journey is certainly underway now. The team and I still feel "hot" from the successful release of Gildedguy Gets Up, and we're all eager to make Story 7 even better. My main concern is achieving a balance of polish and exploration, since I really want to stretch my abilities as a drawer.

Introducing Tyrra

Tyrra is a New Aetherian who we'll be seeing in the new animation. Her design is based off modern stickman OC's, which tend to be more elaborate and tech-y.

A running theme I want to show is the evolution of internet stick fights over the past decades. We'll have primeval stickmen like Andre fighting alongside (against-side?) today's stick figures. So if Tyrra looks a little garish to your eyes, that's intentional!

Side Collaboration

This month is busier than normal, since I'll be participating in Hyun's Dojo's "Dojo Demon Collab 2". There may or may not be a special part for GG in there, but from what I can see behind the scenes, it's shaping up to be a ginormous project. I owe a lot to Hyun and his dojo, so I will be setting some time aside to contribute an animation.

Funny promo video of the project, with some Gilded Fortnite action.

Trading Card Progress

Kero and I have settled on a card manufacturing vendor, so we're doing ONE more print test  to before we begin designing/producing the final products. This time, we're using NightVibe, one of our community moderators, as the guinea pig design.

For prototypes, I think it's important to use graphics with a wide range of colors and softness-es. That way we can identify which types of styles work well with the printing company we chose.

The card design itself is supposed to display a moderate amount of character information, while still looking shiny and clean. Elements like the faction emblems, name, creation class (is it an official Duelist, RHG, plain old OC?), and powers/abilities.

In alignment with this "pack the cards with info" philosophy, I'm going to try including scannable QR codes on the back. These codes will either provide MORE info about the character, or send you to the creators' webpages.

I hope all these little details will make the trading cards truly shine. (The gold foils will help too!)

All for Now

Thanks for checking in! If you'd like a more frequent look at the work, you're welcome to hop into the livestream or chat with the community on Discord

Your support is appreciated as always.
