I never did it because A- I'm not a big anime head any more, and B - I hate drawing tech and armour and robotics... lol. But, seeing the Masamune Shirow exhibition in Tokyo earlier this year kind of lit a fire under me to get my arse in gear and get it done.
I knew it needed to be an homage to the anime as much as a pinup, so I figured doing it in as close to an anime style as I could would be right. As it turned out it was also pretty fun. I've been airbrushing and messing with texture a lot lately so going "simple" with clean lines and sharp edges to all the shadows was a breath of fresh air for me.
