This strip is based on Justice League International Special #1 from 1989. I was re-reading the JLI books then, when I forgot how good they really were. Keith Giffon's writing was awesome! I loved the humor and the character line-up.
At the time, I had been wanting to do Fire and Ice strip, but hadn't come up with a good script. This was done before I did "Wardrobe Malfunction". I figured this was a nice way to do Fire first, seeing she is my favorite of the two. I really like this version of Huntress's costume, because she shows off a lot of leg and it looks like a "classic costume". I don't mind the newer ones, but I like the simple streamlined look better. One thing's for sure though, DC Comics feature to many capes. Capes are my enemy when it comes to doing ass shots.
Right off the bat while reading this special, I thought, what better way to punish the Huntress for bitching and moaning about doing monitor duty, which seems to be a reoccurring theme, then a little ass-woopin'. The next scene, Fire kisses Oberon unexpectedly, so I figured I would keep that tension and bring it back into the monitor room.
