I saw Haori’s black shadow from behind the frosted entry doors, and when they opened, he rushed into clarity: huge and sleek, he dribbled a ball across the court floor. He spun with it as he leaped, pitched it neatly through the ring, and dropped back down with his tail held high and stiff. He knew I was there - his green eyes flashed with amusement, meeting mine briefly on the go-around - but he didn’t stop playing.
