2018-07-05 02:18:03 +0000 UTCGenerally when people are reacting to avatar and then start Korra most people suggest having a break and leaving it for a while as the change in styles and themes is pretty drastic. For us watching when it aired we had like 4 years and were dying for a new avatar, but going with that where you say kids might not get all the references well thats correct. The writers even said that Korra has aged with the people who watched last airbender and is aimed at a older audience, you will see this a lot more later on too.

2018-07-04 18:43:15 +0000 UTCI was 11 when i watched this show when it aired on Nickelodeon for the first time and i got most of the references. I felt it surpassed everything animated at the time but that might've been cus i loved the last airbender so much. Truss me akasan the drastic change between the two shows does take some getting used 2 but it grew on me after the first half of the season.
