well they had to wrap it up because they thought they only got 1 season. If they had known from the start they'd get more seasons, they might have taken more time with getting the bending back. Blame Nickelodeon for not treating an amazing franchise well

We need another avatar series lol.

the reason it feels like this towards the end because it was originally supposed to be only one season. every season is self contained, not like last airbender.

Hey Akasan, loving your reactions with Kali. It’s great to see and hear your take on the series. I saw Blindwave’s reaction and am currently following The Normies and See Jane Go TV but have been really excited for you to be on the journey that is Korra. I don't know if someone already mentioned it by now but I wanted to touch on a few things regarding Korra Season 1. 1. There were some production issues. One in particular was that Nickelodeon commissioned Korra for just that 1st season at first. So the creators and writers thought that this was it and kept it relatively self-contained. (I agree, a lot of stuff got wrapped up pretty quickly in the last episode). Season 2 wasn’t asked for until after Season 1 was set, which sucks. It’s not the writer’s fault and they did the best with what they had. 2. Korra (at least at this part of the series) has a lot of self-identity and self-worth mixed in with her being the Avatar. • Something that separates her from the previous Avatars is that she found out from an incredibly early age that she was the Avatar, where in Avatar: The Last Airbender, they mentioned how Avatars are not announced until their 16th birthday (Aang was another exception where he was told when he was 12). • This season showed she values bending highly in that bending, and by extension fighting, comes easily to her where spirituality is much more difficult. Or that being the Avatar is mainly about fighting. Or that problems can be solved by fighting/bending where problems that have delicate situations/require finesse are not her forte. • So when it came to losing 3/4 of her bending (something she values), she feels like she is “…not the Avatar anymore.” • I’ve even heard someone theorize that Korra was so depressed about this that her going to that ice cliff was to kill herself because she felt an Avatar that can’t bend the elements is no Avatar at all so why not reincarnate into a new Avatar and start over. That this was her “lowest point” (I didn’t read it that way when I first watched this and still don’t, but a different take on it).
