August 30, 2023. Update

Hello Everyone,

This is the first of a batch of updates coming out over the next week or two. This one looks mainly at the 1,000th shows in London and the highs and lows that surrounded them and the build up to them.

Bye,

Gary.

Thx for the Raven clips, her stuff reminds me of the ( ex-BlutEngel ) German female group "Tristesse De La Lune" ( yes, I know that's French, but that's their name )

Hi Gary. If you ever get stuck reach out I'm and audiologist (have been for 30 years🙄)and always there if you need anything. Even if to talk about hearing and music. I'm based in Oxford but can get most places easily.

Glad that you have found a solution for your hearing problems, Karen. I will be at the Birmingham gig in October, too - looking forward to it immensely.

Love these updates Keep them coming 💕💕💕 Sorry you are suffering with the hearing Must be a nightmare at times Raven has a good mentor with you Gary She is so brave getting out there. Good luck to her. Xx

Dear Gary, I just watched your video and thought about your problem with your hearing. First, I would check the hearing aid. If it is a bit older, it will certainly get worse over time without you noticing it immediately. Of course, I have no idea how long your hearing aid has been in use. If it has defects, you could of course get the same model again or a worthy replacement. 2. Since the drummer had a very loud boom, I suspected afterwards that maybe he also had a little problem with his hearing and that's why he had such a heavy impact. That's just my thought and I don't play an instrument or drums myself. So please forgive me if I'm totally wrong. 3. You have already embarked on a new path with the Acoustic Tour. I like it very much. It might save your hearing a bit and the stress of big concerts would certainly be less. Maybe it'll be good for Gemma if future gigs aren't too strenuous. You both could downshift in the near future and your daughters could up a gear. Your health comes first. And because of the so-called "freak out". No one is perfect! And you were under a lot of pressure on those days and your nerves were very tense.. And the lack of hearing was just the icing on the cake... You realized your behavior afterwards and that's a good thing. So, dear Gary, I would like to express my thanks once again for the newly created PATREON platform. I'm curious about more insights. I feel so comfortable here; I could almost be your neighbor or a very good friend. Greetings from beautiful Upper Bavaria. sandra

Don't be hard on yourself. I've noticed a lot of changes in myself due to loss this past year. Being snappy over the smallest of things. It all amounts to anxiety and worry. Best regards to Gemma too. Stay safe X

Hi Gary. I can understand re your hearing. U may remember I use a implant in my skull for my hearing on right . It's like a TV aerial think I showed gem. It's called a baha bone anchored hearing aid. As I lost my hearing totally on right. So this was done as it feeds through the skull. To be honest long term this may be helpful to u. Just a thought. I'm hoping something can be done but I also understand you may not like wearing it. Very sorry to hear this .also sorry I couldn't get wheelchair ticket for shows. And same again at these ones next month gutted but I am coming to see u n gem brum. Hopefully I will manage it as last time I thought I wasn't seeing u again but no gig as no seats even though in my chair. But seeing u both again at Birmingham will be awesome n dave n band. Thank you as always gutted I missed raven persia. Well proud for you though. Lv tou both

so pleased that I got to see and read the update this time had an issue with Julys Q&A part 3 , its so difficult, but also brave to admit to our mistakes , and sometimes we just lose it for a moment particularly when we are in a stressful situation , and we have to vent , scream or shout just to be heard or understood ,so don't be to hard on yourself , you owned it and now we carry on , thats what we love about you Gary your raw , down to earth honesty, I find it upsetting to discover that your hearing is a bit off ,I hope you find a way to cope and rectify this , of all the senses I think I would rather lose my sense of smell and taste than hearing or eye sight ,

Raven was excellent (the track 'Violence' particularly stood out amongst many fine songs she has written). It was a pleasure talking to her and her boyfriend (along with yourself, Gemma, Tony and Angie) after the final night; she was very engaging and extremely courteous. A real credit to you & Gemma and the best support act you have had in recent years.

So glad it's going well for Raven, they were great all three nights. I love her songs. Sorry to hear about your hearing issues, which I guess are an occupational hazard from both your careers. I hope you can find a solution. And as others have said, cut yourself some slack for your very rare tantrum. A lot going on, a lot of worries and pressures at once, and occasionally we abreact in ways we wouldn't have predicted and are not proud of afterwards. But you've owned it, it happened, you're sorry you did it, and it's now long past. I think most people would have just sort of pretended to themselves that it never even happened, and never referred to it again, or else spun a version of the story that justified the behaviour, to cast themselves in a better light. You are not like that - you are cut from a different cloth, and we love you for your emotional honesty.

Thanks for the catch up , I’m gutted I missed those gigs especially with Raven and Persia , to be honest there’s been a lot going for yourselves so it’s great you all got through everything and it worked out . Us fans only get to see what goes on from the stage we don’t get to see everything behind what I call the wizard of oz curtain lol , life and all what comes with it , to get out and still perform is appreciated . Sorry about your hearing too and you had your meltdown , tantrum whatever you want to call it , it’s all the stress at least you’ve acknowledged it and it’s done with now , plus dealing with getting older isn’t all plain sailing either I’m the same age so I get it , especially those intrusive thoughts you can get but, all you can do is not give them your time and just stay in the moment and as positive as we can , because apart from your hearing you’re doing great , I’m not ready for the twin set and pearls yet either 😂👍. Looking forward to the next update when you’re ready and love to you all take care .

Thanks for the update. I completely sympathise with the hearing problem. I also wear hearing aids but I know I'm not hearing music like I should. I can't imagine the effect it has on you performing. So sad if that dictates the end for you, let's hope you can find a way around it. This, along with Gemmas dad passing and the worry for Raven, it's no wonder you blew your top at the first gig. Don't be too hard on yourself.
