Did you know the Iroh story here was a tribute to the original voice actor. When he was signing the song about his son and passing he was signing about the last few days left of his own life. That's why you here him chocking up its not acting. But his true feelings being caught.

Just the way it's framed, the way Aang met him in the same episode where he remembers Gyatso, and finds his skeleton. I was convinced Gyatso came back as Momo to be with Aang again, and I even said this to my friend who I was watching the show with, and he believed it too. But then it just didn't go anywhere, and Momo seemed to just be a normal pet.
