2023-06-14 14:30:57 +0000 UTCMy housemates all laughed at me the first time I saw this, because my reaction to Yellow Diamond's voice was something along the lines of "Oh, they got someone to do a very serviceable Patti LuPone. Nice!" It somehow never even occurred to me that they would actually get the *real* Patti LuPone to do voice work for a cartoon.

2023-06-14 01:30:47 +0000 UTCI'm so glad you honed in on Yellow Diamond's voice actress! She's actually a famous Broadway actress, Patti LuPone. She has also been pretty busy in voice acting and TV the last few years, including American Horror Story, Penny Dreadful, and The School For Good and Evil. Her voice can be pretty polarizing, but it's undeniably distinct and powerful. I saw her play Mrs. Lovett in a filmed concert version of Sweeney Todd with Neil Patrick Harris as Toby. Not, like, as a child. He was 28. It was weird, but fun :)
