As grim as the existence of the zoomans is, I can’t help but wonder how genetically separated they are from humans and how much domestication went on with them being so specifically “choosened” with each other. Blows my entire mind trying to ponder how they selectively bred the people for thousands of years. I can only assume they threw Greg into the mix right away cause they were like “oh thank GOD, genetic diversity incoming” LOL. But also I looooove the Diamonds and the casual lore drops they had in their song + the hints to their relationship with eachother and pink. To me personally, they struck me as like….grieving parents struggling to cope with the death of their kid. Granted gems don’t have kids or families like that so it’s absolutely not the same, but it was how I read them at first. I also like how clearly you can see how HUGE those bitches are. The little pearls perching on their hands had me going wild. It also just really drove in to me how different Yellow’s unhealthy coping mechanism was vs Blue’s. Yellow seems to be working herself without breaks or feeling while blue is wallowing in it. It’s a really cool way to make the big bads sympathetic imo. We can all relate to grief and loss I think.
