I hate that tribalist mentality, the "us versus them" thing. When someone can treat an entire nation of people like they're less than human, you know there's something wrong. Saying things like "they deserve the same". "They" who? Are those innocent civilians the very same people who locked her up and hurt her friends? No. She's judging them based on the fact that they are citizens of the Fire Nation. That doesn't make them bad people, and it definitely doesn't make their lives less important than anyone else. I'll never understand people with that mindset, where they can so easily put people into groups/categories to justify their hatred/anger towards millions of people they've never even met. That would be like me being punched by a man who happens to be Japanese, or Korean, and spending the rest of my life saying "Asians are evil" or like, actually trying to hurt people who also happen to be Asian, whether or not those people did anything wrong. How the hell do people have that kind of mentality to think that makes sense? How about instead of focusing on one trait that makes a person different from you, you look at each person as their own individual, and don't base your judgement of them on what somebody else did?

2023-09-15 20:44:51 +0000 UTCI really love this episode. I imagine that it must have aired around Halloween on its first run. It does a really good job of keeping you guessing where they're going to land with Hama for quite a while -- she's so creepy, and yet it still seems well within the range of possibility that they're playing a 'don't judge a book by its creepy, creepy cover' game with her, especially since it is a kids' show. It's just a very nicely constructed story all around, I think.

2023-09-15 08:20:19 +0000 UTCThis is my favorite episode EVER I've seen it so many times, and I love the fighting scene especially because you can se katara using earth bending techniques, when she standstill like a ROCK and stops Hama's attack and then later she uses the same water to flip Hama!!! Lol, I LOVE this episode so much!!
