A maybe plot hole I just realized about the “imposter” scene with the lineup: the fire nation has been shown to keep up to date pretty well with records n such (thinking about S3 EP 1 when they stole a ship and got caught, the crew member informed the captain that admiral Chan was on leave), so you could probably assume they’d have information on all the guards since it’s “the most secure prison in the fire nation,” they could literally have asked everyone their names and matched them to their records on file until Sokka was singled out. I’ve watched this show dozens of times and that just occurred to me, but I think they’re relying pretty heavily on the audience assumption that this is during a time period records aren’t kept as thoroughly. I just think the fire nation would be the one to do it, especially considering how rigid their culture is.
