Actually there's proof their love isn't fake. There's a print version of Journal 3 which is a canonical reproduction of the book seen in the show. In it there are entries for each episode and other stories and Dipper actually writes further details on the love potion Mabel used, discovering that the magic that brought Robbie and Tambry together only had a limited effect. If the love wasn't real it would have faded after just a few hours. The fact they still had feelings for eachother after that was proof their feelings were genuine.
