And its made me think that there may not be more of a student of the game than Eminem. The man is a hip hop historian, and I know artists are not out here showcasing how much they know, but I honestly dont think many artists give a fuck about the pioneers before them or are concerned with present artists as much as Eminem. But these traits dont come up much in Eminem conversations. Its one of the many reasons that separates Eminem from the pack

Dude respects the game and studies the game more than anyone else that came before him, but haters call him a phony or say heβs hi-jacking the industry simply because the color of his skin. Shit is infuriating. Even if he isnβt your favorite artist, he at least deserves respect for being a student of the game.

I did the same during the Kamikaze interview, paused and googled, every artist he mentioned cuz of the high regard used. It was informative and through the years Em has introduced me to many artists. The featured guest usually impresses me and if so, I go down their rabbit hole often coming up a fan with some becoming my top favourite artist: Yela, Joyner, Royce, Harlow, Jessie Reyez, 50 - Em just embodies hip hop

But he can literally break into a verse mid conversation and not miss a word. Like how he does yoke the joker by treach. Or reciting 6am by Ice T. Of course he goes nuts with LL Cool J tracks. Then he knows songs by artist I've never heard of. Like LaKim Shabazz.
