In Japanese when Freeza makes Krillin's technique Goku says: "THIS is your last ressort? You're disappointing me, Freeza!" Basically Freeza lost his damn mind and Goku is laughing at him for it

2025-08-11 15:47:48 +0000 UTCI think Goku stopping the fight and not killing Freeza to make him feel shame and humiliation is more meaningful than straight up killing him. The emperor of the universe beaten by the one thing he feared the most, and the thing he brought upon himself, and will have to live with this shame for the rest of his life. And it's also more meaningful for Goku's character because first he accomplished what he wanted, avenge Krillin's death, and also this is probably the first time Goku felt like stopping a fight, even tho he's fighting the strongest guy ever rn. Except this isn't the case anymore, 'cause he IS the strongest now, the legendary Super Saiyan, the mightiest warrior, and he decided to stop a fight, something he never did. And one thing the dub didn't do was Goku saying to Freeza: "I don't want to see your face ever again..." usually, Goku wants to have his enemy become stronger and fight them AGAIN (Piccolo, Vegeta), but not this time. I don't want to write too much but for me this whole scene is Goku's peak as a character, excellent writing.
