What I love about Vigilante here is that like many sociopaths, he has formed his own rigid moral code that isn't in line with social standards - and that means his alternate self is exactly the same. Other people's alternate selves are different because the social standards are different, but that doesn't factor in with Vig. I've seen a lot of people saying that the big difference between our Vig and X-Vig is how they feel about Peacemaker - but that's not true. They are identical, because our Vig would also hate a Nazi Peacemaker, because all Vig's hate bigotry. Vig's dad being gay felt almost like a throwaway joke to establish murderous Vig's quirky moral code last season, but his dad being in the alternate world makes sense. He's still gay, just not out, because Nazi world. I'm still thinking that the reason alternate Peacemaker was a pill-popping alcoholic with commitment issues is because he was repressing his canonically established bisexuality in a universe where he is a Nazi hero. Puts a darker shade on Augie's toast at the beginning of this episode about him making the right decision to be a better man and date Emilia. As harrowing as that final shot of the lynch mob chasing Ads is, the cinematography of that scene is goddamn beautiful. Full props to Holland for that scene with Cena in the interview room. Genuinely the most phenomenal piece of acting in the entire show.

2025-10-02 14:35:43 +0000 UTCI would think that Vigilante 1 would tell Vigilante 2 that Peacemaker 1 killed Peacemaker 2, so maybe V2 might not go after Peacemaker after all. But who knows?
