What a twist in the film. I had no idea it was about witchcraft. The trailer totally threw me off. It was weird and tough to make sense from the scenes that were presented in the trailer. It looked like a zombie film, especially seeing Wong's crazy eyes and bloodied face while running like crazy along with the kids crashing through the house windows.

2025-10-22 00:12:09 +0000 UTCThe only problem I had with the story was the weird dream that Archer (Josh Brolin) was having when he saw M4a1 rifle hovering over the house. I was not sure what was the purpose of the big rifle. Throughout the film, I kept it as mental footnote and was waiting to see if anything associated with the gun will pop up later. No pun intended there. In the end, it served no purpose. The only inconsistency of the story was Archer immediately recovered. His sense returned as soon as Gladys was torn to pieces, which broke the spell. Alex's parents and the kids still remained in soulless, vegetated state. The only assumption that we can make is Archer was not under the spell for a long period of time. Other than that the film was creepy and good.
