Chapter 26: Primary Quest and the Silver Haired Queen of Annihilation

The news that Riser dropped was something that Rias's peerage already knew. But because Issei joined the peerage not long ago, it was the biggest shock to him.


It would be a lie to say that Issei didn't have the biggest crush on Rias. But he knew that she was way out of his league for her to even notice.


But after becoming a part of her peerage –he thought that he had a chance.


'I was wrong…' He felt his heart shattering at the news.


Whereas, Kento was rather amused at the development of the scenario.


"Huh?" Riser finally acknowledged the presence of Issei and Kento. "Who are these two punks?" He looked at Rias. "Your servants?"


This statement made Kento's eyebrows twitch while Issei felt a little better.


"I am her pawn!" Issei said proudly.


Riser stared at Issei before asking Rias. "How many pieces did you waste on this buffone?"


Even before Rias could answer, Issei replied. "All eight pieces!"


This made Riser rather impressed for a moment, but he shook his head. "No matter how many pieces. His power is very low." He smirked. "Are you sure that the pieces didn't malfunction?"


This was what angered Rias. "You know just as well as I do, Riser. The pieces were designed by Satan Beelzebub and are flawless."


Riser shrugged. "Doesn't matter." He then turned to look at Akeno. "You look just as lovely as ever, Akeno. Riser would be pleased to have you by his side."


Kento didn't care much about Riser, but now… He felt that the devil was being quite annoying.


'He is a pervert… A pervert with power and authority.' Kento thought.


"And who is this?" He asked, looking at Kento. "Another one of your servants?"


"He is not." Rias answered. "He is a friend of ours."


Riser frowned. "He does not have any demonic power… He is a human, isn't he?"


Seeing Rias nod at the statement, Riser's displeasure grew. "Why is a filthy human here?"


"Why?" Kento smiled. "Why can't I be here? I am a student of Kuoh just like them."


Riser frowned. "Did this human worm just talk back to Riser?"


This angered Kento, but it was also funny to him. The fact that he talked in third person, how haughty he was and how he flaunted his half nude peerage. 


This felt just like the old days for Kento. The meetings with the prideful men of the upper echelon and how they thought they were above all others.


"Makes sense that you see others as worms with that chicken hairstyle of yours."


*Pfft* 


Issei couldn't hold his laugh.


"Kento–" Rias's eyes widened as she knew that he could get into trouble for making fun of a devil noble.


This made Riser furious. "You filth!" He roared. "Did your pathetic slave parents not teach you manners!"


Kento was a person that didn't care about insults thrown at him. Why? Because he could fire back with insults of his own.


But there was always an unspoken rule of taunting, insulting or making fun of others…


And that was to never bring their family into such matters.


"Alright, that's it." 


Riser crossed a line and as someone who owed his life to both his mother of the previous world and this world, he could not let such an insult pass by.


"Kento don't–" Rias didn't want Kento to confront Riser, but it was too late.


Standing up, Kento stared directly at Riser. "Who the fuck are you to be talking shit about me and my parents?"


Unlike others, Kento did not take Riser's insult without saying anything.


He instead stood right in front of Riser.


This infuriated the devil noble.


"Who the fuck do you think you are to talk to Riser in such a tone, trash?" 


Kento couldn't stand the man and wanted to do nothing more than slash his throat.


But maybe he had a chance.

"You fucking piece of shit!" Riser thought of putting Kento in place. He released his full demonic power –making it difficult for Issei to keep standing.

However, it didn't matter to Kento.


He had already seen what true power felt like. Yasaka's power was far above anything Riser could imitate and Inari's was not to be even brought up.


Her presence nearly made Kento faint. And the fact that his passive skills only activated when the person had any form of malintention towards him. 


Which Inari didn't.


However, the present situation did.


"How about you walk back a bit." Kento said, calming himself. "Your breath fucking stinks."


"That's it!" Riser roared. "You are fucking dead!"


Saying this, Riser summoned a flame in his hand.


But Kento had no intention of falling back.

The moment he summoned the sword, everyone in the room felt a chill run down their spine.


While Kiba's eyes widened in shock and disgust. Yet this went unnoticed by everyone because of the situation.


The stats of a high class devil were extremely high. But even as one, Riser could feel the looming sense of dread that came from the sword.


"Move and suffer." 


The presence of the sword was painful for the Phenex. He was certain that nothing would happen to him because of regenerative ability but the aura it emitted made the Phenex unintentionally shudder a little.


Kento pulling a sword to Riser's neck alerted his peerage who were ready to strike him down.


Sadly for them, they couldn't do it unless the sword was moved away from Riser's neck.


"Kento that's enough." Rias requested but Kento was pissed. 


"Do you know… Who… Riser is…" Riser gritted his teeth, his face turning red from his anger.


Kento looked him straight in the eye.


"Do you think… I care?"


Rias knew that she had to do something but what could she do when the situation had escalated this far?


Thankfully.


She had to do nothing.


Because a very familiar voice had things under control.


"Cease this at once!"

Now, in the world of devils, there were a lot of powerhouses that almost everyone feared. 


There were the four satans.


Lucifer, Beelzebub, Leviathan and Asmodeus.


Then there was the leader of the old Satan faction –The true descent of the first Lucifer.


Followed by the head of the most revered devil pillar –Bael.


These were some of the most prominent figures in the devil world that everyone bowed their heads to.


And what all of them had in common was not just raw power but they were also at a position of political power that not many could speak up against. 


However, the woman that walked out of the teleportation circle was not feared because of her relation with the current Lucifer –but because of the sheer demonic power that she possessed. 


"Grayfia!"


Grayfia Lucifuge, The Silver-Haired Queen of Annihilation and the queen of the current Lucifer was a devil known for her strength.


"What is the meaning of all this?"


Grayfia rarely showcased any emotion, and when she did –it was because the situation was dire.


Kento could feel the power that the woman emitted. It was so strong that not even his passive skills helped.


'S-She is stronger than Yasaka.' Kento was shocked at the emergence of such a figure.


"L-Lady Lucifuge!" Riser said, slowly moving back.


Grayfia frowned at him and then at Kento. "Put away the sword."


Kento was well aware that he stood no chance against the woman in front of him.


Regrettably, he decided to put down his sword.


"Lady Lucifuge! This filthy–"


Riser was unable to finish as a look from Grayfia shut him down.


"Young Master Riser. Satan Lucifer told you not to rush and as agreed upon by both the Phenex and Gremory families, the marriage will proceed as planned." She frowned. "So, what is with all that commotion going on here?"


Riser frowned. "L-Lady Lucifuge. Riser had no intention of causing a ruckus. But this… human has crossed the line by threatening Riser."


Grayfia frowned and looked at Kento. 


"What was the meaning of threatening a devil noble, young man?" 


As Grayfia lowered the pressure, Kento and everyone in the room could breathe properly. 


"It was him who insulted my family." Kento answered calmly. "As someone who respects their parents, I had to take a stand against him."


Grayfia looked at the others for affirmation, and seeing them nod, she sighed.


"Since both parties were at fault, there is no point in pursuing the matter any further." She said. 


"Lady–"


"Young Master Riser, need I remind you that you came here without prior notice?" She said. "This is a violation of the rules set by the devil elders and kings about visits to the human realm." 


Riser bit his lips. "I just came to inform Rias that the marriage dates have been moved to an earlier one."


This news felt like a bolt of lightning for Rias. "What! Why did I never hear about this!" She was furious. "Father promised me that I will at least be given time to complete my education!"


Grayfia sighed. "Even if that was the case, as her family it is our responsibility to tell her, Master Riser." She looked at Rias. "And the reason that they had to move the dates to an earlier one was because of your father and Lord Phenex's recent meeting."


"But–"


"There is nothing much I can do here, my lady." Grayfia said. "And young master Riser, your older brother, heir Ruval was looking for you."


Riser froze.


His older brother was someone that Riser feared. And he knew that if Ruval learnt of the ruckuss that he caused here… There would be consequences.


"This…" Riser was scared to say the least.


"I will not be informing your brother about this situation," Grayfia said. "But you will have to step back from this ruckus."


In Riser's mind, there couldn't have been a better outcome and hence immediately agreed.


However, this did not mean that he forgave Kento.


"Don't think that you can run away, bastard." He said as he called his peerage forward.


"Riser will meet you later, Rias." He gave her a smile as he summoned a teleportation circle under him –teleporting him and his peerage out of the place.


This left Kento and the Occult Research Club with Grayfia. And seeing how Riser feared Grayfia and the pressure he felt from her, he decided to check her status.

Kento felt his breath quickening. 'She is a monster.'


"As for you, Lady Rias." Grayfia said. "Your father asks for your immediate presence."


Rias was uneasy and shaken by the situation.


She looked at her peerage, but Grayfia shook her head.


"Your father asked you to come alone."


This made her frown. "Why?"


"It's regarding the marriage so he wanted to have a one on one talk with you." Saying this, she looked at Kento. "I am sorry but since this is a family matter for lady Rias, I will have to ask you to leave."


"Grayfia!" Rias frowned. "He is a friend of mine!"


But Kento smiled and shook his head. "I understand." 


He knew that staying there would only worsen the situation.


He looked at Rias. "You have more important things to worry about, Rias. Focus on them."


"Kento–"


He smiled. "I'll see you guys later."


Rias tried to stop him but Kento knew that it was best not to interfere with her family matters.


But there was something that he had been forgetting.
