<<Note: Peak Fallen Cadre is similar to the Peak Ultimate Class.>>

Like being struck by a bolt of lightning, Kento stood in front of the two beings with a worrying amount of thoughts flooding his mind. Seeing this, Azazel couldn’t help but explain the situation to him.

“Don’t worry, I am not here to hurt you or do anything that might worry you,” He reassured, “I simply came here for the sake of satisfying my curiosity.”

“He is not lying, Kento,” Sirzechs added, "We already know that you mean us no harm and similarly we have no reason to do anything that might worry you. However, the reason we decided to confront you is because we are curious about how you obtained that ability.”

“You might not know this, kid… But only a certain type of beings possess that ability and considering you fall into none of those said categories nor do you belong to the church, I just couldn't help but confront you directly about it.”

This finally calmed Kento down as the two leaders did not seem to possess any malice towards him.

But he would be lying if he said it wasn’t scary to be confronted by these two in such a way. And he could guarantee that if he wasn’t Rias’ savior, this situation might not have ended this well for him.

He took a deep breath as he decided to make up lies, “I discovered that I had the ability to manipulate light the same time I learnt that I could manipulate water.”

“Then why did you not use it in the past?” Sirzechs asked curiously.

“Because I realized that it was much stronger than my water manipulation and I had absolutely no control over it.”

This made Azazel nod, “Light manipulation, demonic power manipulation and a few selective abilities are at a league of their own. So, it is understandable that you had difficulty in controlling it.”

But what surprised Azazel the most was that Kento was later able to learn and control the ability on his own without anyone’s help.

“And the reason I kept it hidden even after learning to control it was because of Kalawarner.”

“Pardon?” Azazel raised an eyebrow, wondering what a foot soldier like Kalawarner might have done to prevent Kento from using the ability.

“During the first clash she had with Akeno, she revealed that light was an element that only fallens, angels and church disciples were able to use and that made me worried that I might be mistaken to be related to them-”

“And so you decided to hide it…” Sirzechs finished the sentence, “That is actually quite understandable.”

Azazel agreed with him as well, “You made the correct choice. But from now on, you can use it without worry.”

Sirzechs nodded, “True.”

Kento felt a burden finally lifting off of his chest to be finally being able to use light manipulation without worry.

“But well, that was not the only reason for which I came here today,” He grinned and looked at Sirzechs, “After the faction talks, I believe I can join Kuoh as a teacher.”

And just like always, Kento felt like he was part of a discussion that he shouldn’t have been a part of.

‘It’s going to be trouble for me again, isn’t it?’

"I heard you were called by my brother?"

Seeing Kento slouched on the couch with a seemingly tired expression, Rias wondered if something was wrong with him.

"Yeah, he just asked me a few questions."

He knew that he couldn’t reveal the discussion he had with Sirzechs and Azazel, especially when Azazel asked him to keep his visit a secret.

‘And if what he meant by joining Kuoh soon is true… then it is best to let him do the explanation.’

And in truth, neither Sirzechs nor Azazel explained to him what they meant by faction talks so he didn’t bother prying either.

Rias raised an eyebrow at the answer, "Questions? Is there something to be worried about?"

Kento shook his head and gave her a tired smile, "No, don't worry about it. It was just something that had him confused a little. It is all sorted out now."

She smiled hearing this, glad that everything was fine.

"Would you like some tea?" She asked, but Kento declined.

"Actually, do you have coffee?"

The Occult Club preferred tea over coffee, but Kento knew that the fatigue of having to explain the situation to two faction leaders was not something that could be solved with tea.

"I think Akeno does have grounded coffee beans and there is a French press in the pantry, I can make you some."

Kento was glad that they had coffee, he was dying for some caffeine.

"That would be lovely."

He relaxed on the couch while staring at Rias walking towards the mini pantry.

"Akeno gets freshly ground coffee beans from a client almost every other day, but since most of us don't drink coffee, we give it away."

Kento was well aware that the clients whom the devils got often showered them with gifts whenever their requests and wishes were fulfilled.

So, he watched the redhead brew the coffee.

Taking out a french press from one of the shelves, she boiled quite a bit of water in the electric kettle that they often used.

But it was when she opened the packet of grounded coffee beans that Kento was actually amazed.

"Wow…"

The moment she opened the pack, a sweet aroma engulfed the room.

"Those can't be normal coffee beans," Kento mused, "Are they enchanted or something?"

Rias shook her head, "I don't think so, I just know that it tastes really good as the chess club is a huge fan of these beans."

Kento enjoyed the sweet aroma as Rias poured the powder inside the glass container, waiting for the water to boil.

"You seem to have been pushing yourself a little too hard," Rias sighed, "You should ease up a little."

"Trying, but things just seems to have been a bit too messy lately."

Rias was curious, "You don't tell me a lot of things, but you know that you can always do so, right?"

Kento nodded, "Yeah, but don't worry. It is just something I have to deal with myself but I'll be fine."

"If you say so," Rias wasn't convinced but she knew better than to pry.

Getting the water to a perfect boil, she poured the water over the grounds of coffee causing the entire room to be filled with the sweet smell of coffee. It was best to let the mixture stay like that for a while as the water absorbed the flavor and aroma over time.

“Aika has been recently working on her language skills, did you know that?”

Kento raised an eyebrow hearing this, he knew she was deep diving into mythological studies but it was news to him that she was also trying out languages.

‘Is it to understand the ancient texts better?’

To him, that was a solid guess. But he will know the full story only when he talks to her directly.

“And… I wanted to know how your relationship is progressing with her?” Rias had a mischievous smirk on her face as she asked this, meanwhile Kento was left baffled by the sudden question .

“We do not have a relationship other than being close friends,” Kento said, “Maybe in the future our friendship may take a different turn but for now, we are just friends… close friends.”

“You know?” Rias said, a little bit of disappointment visible on her face, “Sometimes I am jealous of how close she is to you.”

Kento was amused hearing this, “Aren’t we just as close?”

Rias shook her head, “We are close but it is just that you have been friends with her for far longer so…” She paused and sighed, “I don’t know, call it jealousy because I want to have that same connection with you.”

Kento in a way could understand what she meant as to an outsider’s eye, Kento and Aika’s relationship might seem quite… interesting but Kento knew it very well that it was mostly because of the situation that made Aika depend on him so much.

‘If possible, I would want to change that.’

Kento could not say much to Rias about the situation, so he ended up giving her a smile instead.

“It’s never too late to build a connection or to form memories.”

Rias in a way agreed with him as he wasn’t wrong.

Noticing that the coffee had mixed with the water quite nicely, Rias carefully pushed the filter inside of the glass container, pushing the coffee grounds to the bottom and squeezing out the last bits of flavor into the coffee water.

“This came out nicely.”

As she poured the coffee into a cup, the color and the fragrance was simply marvelous and Kento knew if they were to sell it, its price would be ridiculously high simply for the fragrance.

“Here you go.” With a proud smile on her face, Rias passed the cup of coffee to Kento.

And her prideful expression was damn well justified as the moment Kento took a sip, he was blown away by the symphony of the flavor and aroma, the delicate nuances and robust undertones, he wasn’t able to comprehend the complete experience as he couldn’t find words to describe what he just tasted.

“Wow.”

That was the only word he could think of to describe the flavor. He truly felt like an aristocrat after tasting the coffee.

“You like it?” Rias smirked.

“Like it? I love it!” Kento expressed fullying enjoying the cup of coffee.

But what he didn’t think of was that Rias had something more planned for him as well.

“Then let me do something that you will love even more.”

And before he knew it, she was down on her knees with her fingers over his pants.

"Way more~"
