DC: The Enchanter Chapter 74

Chapter 74: A Fallen Arrow (2/3)

An arrow that did not follow the laws of science –melting through metal and resisting the force of gravity and friction.

"Surprised?" Oliver grinned, seeing the arrow grazing Jasper's cheeks. A singular drop of blood dripped down Jasper, making him amused.

However, surprisingly…

He was not surprised.

"That…" Jasper frowned, "That does not belong to you, does it?"

His statement confused the audience who stood at a distance from where they could witness yet not interfere.

Mostly due to the barrier placed by Zatanna and the enchantments made by Jasper.

However, Oliver knew very well what he meant.

"It IS mine!"

Another arrow soared towards Jasper and once again, it countered the gravity enchantment that Jasper placed.

It was as if the arrows were specially designed to counter Jasper.

Yet it was not the arrows.

It was something else.

Jasper, though, was not foolish enough to let the same trick get him twice. And very swiftly, he dodged the arrow with his enchanted body.

"Lies have always been synonyms with you, Oliver. It is a habit." Jasper stated, "And habits are just something that you cannot change."

Oliver frowned, seemingly angry yet mostly unbothered by the statement.

There were insults and curses that had been used for him since an early age –and these were few of those.

Instead, the 'hero' chuckled.

"A villain calling me a liar and shaming me," He laughed, "Ironic."

Despite the laughter that he gave out, Oliver was fuming. Veins popped on his forehead and his anger was at an all time high.

But Jasper continued with his words, "Then again… You have never been someone that really cared about what belonged to you. If you fancied something, you just took it… No, you stole it."

Oliver scoffed, not liking the condescending tone of the man before him.

"I DO NOT steal anything!"

Oliver in one way or another knew that Jasper was referring to the power that he was displaying.

But this instead made him proud and even happy.

He knew Jasper was talking so much, complaining so much because the villain was unable to handle the pressure and the strength that he was displaying.

He felt joy, he felt excited to think that once again he was back to his overly domineering power and skills.

Skills that made the villains look like fools while displaying his magnificence.

He knew that he was the star of the show again. He knew he was the hero and he knew that he was the one that was right.

However, he failed to consider that Jasper might have been referring to something else.

"I do not steal."

And it was when Oliver repeated himself that Jasper finally said–

"Did not stop you with your girlfriend's… no your fiancée's sister." His words stunned Oliver, "It did not stop you from stealing the girlfriend of a man that considered you his greatest friend."

Oliver's eyes widened and he felt a slight shudder, "Shut up…"

He did not counter, he could not. All he could do was grit his teeth and furiously pull back his bowstring.

"Who are you to reprimand me!" He released the arrow laced in explosives to blow off Jasper's face, and magic to counter his enchantment.

However, Jasper once again simply dodged his arrow. He did not face the arrow, he just let it go.

The arrow flew towards the crowd which made everyone anxious.

Ivy tried summoning a massive forest of vines to prevent the arrow from causing harm, but Zatanna assured.

"It is alright."

And it was, as despite it being fused with magic –it could not put a dent on the barrier set up by Zatanna and enchanted by Jasper.

After all, a barrier composed of two was always stronger than the attack by a single individual.

Especially when the ones to erect the barrier was none other than Zatanna and Jasper.

"You preach of justice, heroism, and moral correctness," Jasper sounded disgusted, "Yet you believe in none of those."

He formed a spear of compact air pressure.

"What does that make you?" He asked in a voice that sounded more than disgusted.

And seeing the arrow being shot by Oliver, he released the spear as well.

"SHUT UP!" Oliver yelled, "You are nothing more than a villain, scum!"

The arrow and the spear collided and to the horror of the onlookers, the collision caused an explosion and released a shockwave that shattered every glass and fragile object around them –moving past the barrier.

After all, the barrier erected by Zatanna was made only to stop projectiles, not to stop propagation of waves.

"Let me tell you, Oliver." Jasper said, taking no damage from the shockwave –not even flinching from his spot. "It makes you a hypocrite, a man that cannot even follow his own rules, his own morals."

"Shut up you fucking piece of shit!" Oliver was fuming, he was beyond angry at this point. "You know nothing about my fucking life!"

"Oh, but I do, Oliver… but I do." Jasper finally showed a smile, one that did not depict happiness but rather –condescendence.

Jasper's face, his words, his smug stance… Everything started to infuriate Oliver. He felt annoyed, angry and even disgusted by simply looking at the man in front of him.

Why?

Why was he feeling so much just for some scum?

He could not understand.

But there was one thing for certain.

And that was the fact that he was going to destroy the villain.

His magic increased, finally flaring and making the onlookers gasp. Purplish black aura swirling around him. Eyes glowing and body exuding a pressure that not even superman possessed.

It felt strong but above all else –it felt demonic.

Satanic even.

"You." Oliver barked, "You will not survive this."

But this only made Jasper grin more.

"Of course," He smiled, "Of course you will know more about killing... About killing and torturing the innocents, won't you?"

And with just one word –Things fell apart.

"Hood."

A word, a name and a moniker.

Something that Oliver Queen wanted to forget but to this day… It was a name that haunted him.

And it was that very name that was going to ruin him forever –never to recover from.

After all, nothing was hidden from the lens that was archiving the story of his demise.

"Batman… There is something that you would want to hear."

"Not now, Nightwing!"

Batman blazed his jet towards the members of the league.

"You should get there as soon as possible then."

This comment by Nightwing drew his attention, "Is it related to the situation out there?"

"It is." Nightwing replied, "But there is nothing you can do about it. So, I will try to do my best to handle it. You focus on handling the situation there."

Batman was still not too happy with the reply.

"What is it?"

Nightwing didn't answer, "I will handle it. You focus on saving the League. They are in trouble."

Batman frowned but did not draw the matter further.

After all, he was well aware that there was one issue that he had to deal with immediately. So, blazing his jet at a speed that he was barely able to handle –he made his way to Serenora.

He had been to Serenora before, but it had never been to fight before. He went there to establish a no-violence treaty with Jasper –between Serenora and the rest of Gotham.

It ensured that Jasper did not invade the rest of Gotham and in return Batman did not raid Serenora.

He knew Jasper had ulterior motives for agreeing, but at that time he had no choice but to go with that deal.

Finally jumping from the jet, he glided towards the scene.

And a scene it was.

An awful scene.

Even before he landed, a massive piece of boulder was launched at him that he was barely able to dodged.

As he looked straight, he saw a massive flesh golem roaring and stomping on Superman.

"Ugh!"

Superman, despite his superstrength, barely managed to stop the foot from crushing him –all while Wonder Woman lunged forward to slice at the multiple zombified men marching forward.

He saw Manhunter screaming and being surrounded by fire.

Lantern barely dodging the sharp tentacles of a monstrosity and Hawkgirl being flung around like a mace by the same monstrosity.

But it was when he heard a certain voice that his eyes widened.

"You are the only one that could ruin this plan," It was a voice that he knew. "So, I cannot let you move freely, Robocop."

The sarcastic tone, the random nickname and the uninterested look.

Batman knew very well who the man that was holding Cyborg by the neck was.

It was the Hellblazer, the most hated occult specialist. And a magician of hell.

"Constantine…"

Batman hissed as he landed in between the countless monsters summoned from Contantine's necromancy.

And the moment Batman landed, he heard Constantine say.

"I was just waiting for you, Batman."

But…

But it wasn't the end of his horrors.

As a certain message through the intercom made him freeze.

"Batman… this cannot be handled. You have to go there and stop Oliver, now!"

It was Nightwing and Batman knew whatever he was trying to do earlier –he had failed at it.

"Oliver… Oliver is being live streamed right now."

And this was what marked the fall of the heroes.

A simple live stream.

[[A/N: Next chapter we will see how Oliver ruins himself. After all, famous people need to maintain their mask and once that mask slips –that person falls.

Alternate Title for next chapter: The Live Stream

P.S. Woke up, cooked up this chapter and posted immediately before going to work. So, it is not the best quality. I will edit it once I get back to it. (When I do.)

P.P.S. I will try to post another chapter today.
