Incentive Control Tower Update and Apologies!

Hey there, most devoted and wonderful patrons.  I feel like I owe you guys an apology.

Here's the story.  A while back, I thought of this idea that I wanted to insert a bonus story arc into Puck Volume Two as an added incentive to buy the book.  I put the vote out to you guys as to the nature of the story arc, and you have graciously voted on various details going along like swimsuit choices and the like.  But here comes the unsurprising realization:

Doing this bonus story arc is WAY more work than I thought it would be.

I don't know what I was thinking, honestly, but I guess I imagined I'd have way more available time in the summer to get cranking and get this arc done.  I didn't.  And now I'm a little confused as to the plan or outcome of this.   The drawing requirements are basically consuming ALL the time that I would normally spend on voting incentive images, and the lengthy creation process means that I'm way behind in actually bringing Puck Volume Two to print.

Anyway, this is my way of saying, (A) I'm sorry I'm not giving you guys more stuff to vote on, and (B) I'm sorry that this 'car wash' story arc is stretching on forever and a day.

I feel like I'm letting everyone down, but I also feel frankly burned out.

Not sure whether I'm going to have the time to run a Halloween-themed voting incentive, though I do like to because they're always fun.

Sorry that I'm just giving you a big bouquet of excuses, but I do want to thank you for your patience and your continued support.  And any thoughts or observations you guys have would always be greatly appreciated.

Charon and the River Styx - and Satan of course

Agreed. I'm not sure I'm achieving either goal with much success right now, but in theory, I do agree.

Well, the car wash story (as illustrated thus far) specifically falls into the story arc at the end of the 'Colin gets cancer' chapter. So I can't rightly put it off to another volume. I guess honestly it doesn't matter how late Puck Volume Two is to get it to print. It's not like anyone's really freaking out for it and wondering where it is.

ElectricGecko

Well, the story arc in the actual comic isn't going anywhere. I keep plugging along with that, no matter what. Nothing keeps me from the weekly update schedule. (Well, I'm not tempting fate, so let's say little keeps me from my weekly update schedule.) The car wash comic is more done than not done now, so I'm going to try to push through with it. I think.

Well, yes. But it is, on some level, important for me to have something in print, if only because it makes me feel more like what I do is tangible and a real accomplishment instead of an ephemeral act of uselessness. And if people are shelling out the money for a print copy (or a PDF), I feel like they deserve something a little extra. I feel this strongly. I just lack the time to make it a reality.

I don't know if this helps at all, but I was planning on buying volume 2 regardless of whether the carwash story arc was included or not. My two cents: your number 1 priority should be maintaining the level of joy you get for creating this comic, and number 2 is fan service. Don't ever reverse that, it will cause more problems than it will create! ***gets off of soapbox***.

Don't push yourself too hard, you don't want burn out. Maybe push out the date on volume 2 if you really want the carwash story in, or put the story on the back burner until the next volume. I like the Halloween incentives and wouldn't want to miss out on them either. Do what makes you happy, I will still be here either way.

I read the comic on the Web and I like what we are getting. I think the best plan is to forget the car wash (maybe show us any sexy pictures already done). My preference is concetrate on the current Puck story arc. I really want to know what happens at this prom.

Philip D Jones

Honestly, many Web Comic fans much prefer reading them on the Web anyhow.
