Gecko Random Extra - Astrotrain Shirt Design
Added 2019-08-31 00:57:16 +0000 UTCI'm going to post a few of the random things I've drawn recently when I've had a few moments of free time. One is this Transformers shirt design. Astrotrain has long been one of my favorites, though he stands as a bit of a B-list guy. He's not Optimus Prime or Soundwave. And I like to put the slightly more obscure guys onto shirt designs. Sometimes I go TOO obscure, like when I made a Slingshot shirt and only one person ever bought it. Well, two people. But I don't count.
Fun fact with this shirt design: I initially drew Astrotrain based mostly on his most recent toy (which was pretty close to how he looked in the show), but then RIGHT WHEN I FINISHED THE DESIGN, Hasbro released pics of a NEW (and totally awesome) Astrotrain toy that they were releasing soon, which looked even more like the old cartoon. So I immediately had to sit down and redesign the image to be in line with the new (as yet unreleased) toy.
'Drop a Train On Em!' is a line Strongbad once said, by the way. I say it about once a week or so. I thought it fitting. Because, you know, he's a space shuttle/locomotive/robot man.
