Weekly Update 10/16/19

This week, I just want to say a big thank you to all of you for helping us hit the $500 goal, which means work has begun on My Ultimate Year! As soon as we get some logistical things ironed out, we should begin production on the show.

For people who may not know, the Ultimate line of Marvel Comics was an attempt in 2000 to create a "fresh start" for classic Marvel characters, with new writers retelling and revamping the original stories. This means a modern take on Peter Parker in high school, the X-Men starting with a much more familiar line-up, and the Avengers (aka the Ultimates)... well, we'll get the them. The great thing about starting the show now is that we've already covered most of the elements the Ultimate line will be playing with, giving great context to our reading.

Some info about the new show: the format should be very familiar to listeners of MMY, although we will be reading more comics per episode (~20 per ep). But episodes will be monthly instead of weekly, so between that and the fact that these modern comics go down much easier, it should be feasible to add the reading in for most people. Each episode will also be a Patreon exclusive for a given amount of time before going on a public feed. We'll be reading every comic in the Ultimate line, and this should take roughly 34 episodes. I have created a rough draft schedule for the show that I'm happy to share... but don't take this as gospel until we confirm it:
