LPVO & RDS Mounts - Canted? Stacked? Bore Offset? What's best?

LPVOs with offset red dots was once considered "gamer gear", but now there are dedicated mounts for this purpose:
Canted or stacked?
Height off bore?
...and more...
Let's discuss the benefits and detriments of these alternatives by using these mounts from Reptilia as our testbed.

LPVO & RDS Mounts - Canted? Stacked? Bore Offset? What's best?

It's not my *favourite* kind of content (that'd be the Old West stuff), but it's still interesting :)

You could, yes.

I think I'll be doing a whole video on that.

We've been planning to focus on some more "educational" content like this, based on the new audience base and growing number of people coming to firearms (for a myriad of reasons). That said, the views on youtube on this are abysmal. Is this content you, the core supporters like and appreciate (along with regular content as well), or no?

keep thinking about such options. and some alternative to a red dot. without much results. i.e. maybe a 3 to 5x prism and ?... some drive hunt mech sight maybe? that leupold devo did look like some good approach but didn't got anywhere. the issue I have is I think it should came down to ONE optic, too. what would be an elcan and people mount reddots to those , too! why. it is 1x or 4x....

I may have asked this before, but I'd love to hear your impressions of this idea of using a red dot at 12 o'clock and an offset magnified prism for more distance/precision https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WAEn1GUExs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQyJq66SExc I don't have experience with anything other than a dot and flip magnifier, so I can't really evaluate it, but his reasoning seems to make some sense, at least for the competition he's doing

If you haven't already covered it elsewhere, could you elaborate on the comment about passive night vision being impractical? I don't have any NV, and I never plan to, cause I'll never have the money, and I don't want to survive any scenario where it might be needed. But I still find the topic interesting. Were you referring to passive with an LPVO, or with any type of optic? It seems like at least having the *option* to passively surveil would be handy, even if it's not so much what you might use in a fight. But I'd love to learn more.

Beautyfull pieces; but they remember me of the old Buffington sights and, in my opinion, the problem with very elegant and refined machines is that you need a very competent user to master their capabilities; I think simpler is better for the average person.

Nevermind. Order placed

Tiny cameras and AR headset overlays are the future, and LASERZ! 👍

I might be completely off the track here, but when you talked about canted red-dot sights only being easily usable from one side, I was thinking about whether you couldn't put one on either side? A pain for the wallet and a pain to zero, I imagine, but would it have any merit? :)

Loke von Post

Just out of reliability. Probably go with one on top of an ACOG.

Are those heat wraps available again? I guess I could get off my ass and go look at KE Arms.
