The Box’s Content

Inside the truck’s trailer.

After Akito and others were picked up from the hotel, they immediately changed and wore the powered suits.

They each had their respective weapon. Akito was provided with a knife that had long blade and a handgun.

The handgun was the type with a large caliber for powered suit. It was powerful.

It was the woman who instructed Akito who handed them to him.

「It can be used to destroy drone too but, don’t hesitate when you encounter a human.」

Rubber or paralyzing bullet to neutralize human was pointless if the opponent was wearing powered suit.

Akito nodded.

「I hope everyone is sleeping at this time.」

「That’s an optimistic opinion but, I also hope so.」

The truck was running on the road.

There was no other car running on the road.

It wasn’t just the road that was too quiet. The surrounding was also the same.

This couldn’t be explained simply because it was still early in the morning.

There were cars parked at the roadside with the drivers sitting on  the driver seat. They were wearing headset and logging into Pandora.

The reason why it was so quiet was because all people were logging in.

……Pandora’s influence scared Akito.

「This is a horror even though it isn’t night.」

The woman looked outside the window of the truck’s trailer――van body and agreed.

Even though it was starting to get brighter outside, the overly quiet city felt like it was dead.

「If this is a movie then it’s like a B-grade movie.」

The other orcs also finished changing and sat down while searching for information.

They were watching the video streaming in their tablet.

It was Pandora’s PV.

「It’s streamed damn everywhere.」

「The second stage huh. I want to try playing it.」

「We’ll be able to play it after this is over.」

「As expected that’ll be impossible. The situation is like this. Even  if it end safely, VR will definitely become restriction target.」

The orc players were talking cheerfully like that. But, the one who  was talking about looking at panty and so on was the female player.

The orc players were calm even in this kind of situation. He didn’t know whether to think of them as reliable or off-putting.

Akito took a deep breath.

The woman who had been teaching him lightly slapped his back.

「Don’t worry. We had prepared. What’s left is just to execute the plan.」

「Yeah.」

The woman tried to reassure him.

The next moment, everyone stooped their body.

Akito also immediately grabbed a nearby handrail. Then the truck shook powerfully several seconds later.

When they looked outside, Akito and others saw drones chasing after the three trucks that they were riding.

Their eyes shined and fired laser.

The truck’s body was hit, but the laser wasn’t so strong to pierce through.

「What’s that? I never heard of anything like this!」

The woman immediately replied while grabbing a nearby rifle and climbing to the ceiling.

「Those are prototypes. Even I never expected them to have that many prepared. Oi, I’m going up. Don’t drive wildly.」

The drive replied.

『I promise you the best ride ever.』

Everyone made a displeased look and grabbed on handrail and the like.

Akito was also the same.

The woman smiled at him and went outside.

「Wait for a bit. I’ll take care of them.」

The woman came out to the ceiling of the van body. Only her upper  body was exposed to the outside air and she aimed her large rifle.

There were regular cars parked at the roadside. It would be a  disaster if she missed, and yet she pulled the trigger without  hesitation.

The bullet hit the drone’s eye. The drone twirled in the air while falling to the ground.

The laser was about to shoot again, but the truck wildly veered right. One side of the tires floated up.

The woman aimed her rifle without panicking.

「Smooth driving there.」

『Right?』

She pulled the trigger. Another pursuing drone was destroyed and fell to the ground.

They were making great ruckus, and yet no police drone came.

(So the police is also no good. If it’s like this, then SDF will also be no good.)

She destroyed the drones one after another. When all the pursuing drones had been shot down, the woman called out to the driver.

「How much longer?」

『It won’t even take five minutes. It’s a straight shot from here.』

When she looked at the path they were taking, she saw a lot of drones  gathering there to protect the entrance to the underground colony.

The zoomed image was projected inside the helmet of the powered suit.

「That’s a grand welcoming.」

『Don’t worry. There’s no problem.』

Several people came out on the ceiling of the other truck.

They were carrying rocket launcher and gatling gun.

The woman laughed seeing that.

「Oi oi, we even got something like that?」

『Yeah, I borrowed them. The world is in danger after all.』

The drones heading toward the trucks were destroyed one after  another. The rocket launcher blew away the guard robot――box shaped robot  carrying a shield that was blocking the road. It opened the path for  them.

The woman was also shooting down drones with her rifle. Then the truck arrived to the entrance of the underground colony.

The rear hatch opened and the orc players who were wrapped in powered suits came out.

They carried equipments and started hacking to open the entrance’s door.

「Hurry up. They’re still coming!」

『I know. I’ll open it in one minute.』

The players……orc players could open the door that had high security  level in just that much time. They had completely lineup of talented  personnel.

The woman thought.

(Now then, is this a coincidence, or inevitability――)

The former minister came there wearing a powered suit that was wearing a coat over it.

He wasn’t wearing a helmet.

Four people were at his side to protect him. Everyone scowled when they entered inside the building.

「This is nightmare.」

Everyone was wearing headset and logging into Pandora.

It was as though everyone suddenly logged in when they were just working normally before.

It was unnatural.

One of the bodyguards was contacting someone.

「Leader, the nightmares are still coming. It seems that equipments were brought out of SDF’s base.」

The former minister narrowed his eyes.

「We can only leave it to Naruse-kun. We too have our own task to fulfill.」

They were contacting various places.

But, it seemed that all humans were logging in into Pandora.

(Will this end up as merely a fruitless effort?)

It was the facility that protected mankind during their cold sleep. It was in use even now.

Because of its solid construction, recently it was used to store the new reactor. That event was still fresh in memory.

Although, the reactor was decommissioned after the scheme of the moon’s residents came to light.

Currently the reactor was being kept in maintenance.

It couldn’t even be destroyed and so it was stored in its current  state――but, Akito’s expression was bitter when he saw that new reactor.

「……It’s moving just like in the report.」

Originally it should be under a strict supervision, but right now it was active and could go into rampage anytime.

No, it must be activated for that very purpose.

All living things on the surface would perish if the new reactor activated.

The powered suit group was running inside the vast colony.

The colony had cylinder shape. The inside was hollow.

The new reactor was placed inside there.

While running through the corridor, several armed drones appeared. The group attacked the drones.

The drones would normally be equipped with rubber bullet or stun gun.

But, those had been switched with firearms that had been upgraded to be more lethal.

「Those bastards, they had been preparing thoroughly.」

「If only they were more lax!」

「Oi, there are more coming from behind too! Go ahead!」

Several people remained behind while the rest moved ahead with Akito at the center to protect him.

In order to connect with Pandora directly……the Selector Akito was necessary no matter what.

「Everyone!」

Akito called out at those who remained behind, but they raised their hand and voice telling them to leave quickly.

The woman pushed Akito’s back.

「Hurry! That’s the only way we can help them now.」

The former executive came to that headquarter building. He was doing  his work while being protected by orc players who were wearing powered  suit.

He had a laptop in front of him and wearing a headset while typing.

Data and documents about Pandora that even the former executive couldn’t comprehend were appearing one after another.

「Oi, what’s wrong?」

One of the bodyguards talked to him. The former executive lifted up his visor.

「Pandora is connected with the device that was brought here from the  moon. No, it looks like they lost control of it after Pandora was moved  into it.」

The new management transferred Pandora into the device that was brought from the moon.

But, it resulted in them failing to control Pandora.

「They couldn’t control it?」

「Apparently that’s how it is from the start. There’s trace of procedure getting added forcefully.」

The former executive held his head.

「There’s nothing that can be done like this」

「Don’t give up! Leader and Naruse boy are doing their best right now!」

「No, in the first place it wasn’t Pandora that went out of co――」

Gunshot resounded inside the room.

The bodyguard pushed down the former executive’s head. His arm was  wounded, even so he used his rifle to destroy the egg shaped vehicle  that attacked them.

……The egg shaped vehicle fell on the floor.

「Oi, you okay!?」

「No problem. More importantly this guy――」

One bodyguard approached and kicked the egg shaped thing. It rolled and the person riding it became visible.

The former executive turned pale.

In there was the information broker who was wearing a headset.

He already died.

The bodyguard thought that it was him who killed the information  broker, but the former executive shook his head when he saw the body. It  was unthinkable that he died from the gunshot just now based on the  body’s condition.

「The smell is bad. He should have died before coming here.」

Then the information broker’s eyes opened.

Everyone jumped back. Then the information broker’s mouth moved.

He definitely should have died.

「……This body is really useless huh.」

The former executive aimed his gun to the body.

「Y-you are――」

The information broker’s corpse moved its eye to gaze at the former executive and orc players. The body laughed.

「My thanks to all of you. Great work.」

Everyone held their breath.

The former executive stopped them from firing.

「W-who are you? You aren’t the information broker.」

「Yeah, that’s right. Do you get it if I say that I’m NPC?」

The former executive shuddered.

「Don’t tell me, you snatched the body――i-impossible!」

The information broker’s corpse laughed.

「Impossible? That is exactly what is impossible. All of you don’t  understand anything. You are only looking at the surface part of VR. We  can even make humans all over the world to login simultaneously. Don’t  you think that taking over a body is even easier than that?」

Humans all over the world……the former executive was drenched in cold sweat after he heard till that point.

「What’s your objective?」

「Don’t worry. We don’t have any interest with human body. We simply  want to live in the world that the goddess――Pandora will make.」

「Live?」

「We have been watching you humans all this time until now. From there  we arrived to one conclusion. You humans……aren’t worthy for that  world.」

Staticky images floated around the information broker.

They must be projected from the egg shaped vehicle.

The images were showing hardcore players not flinching even when getting attacked and simply pursued after efficiency.

There were also images of malicious players doing illegal act or harassing other player.

「The goddess’s world――Pandora’s world doesn’t need “something” like  you guys who aren’t like human. We will become the……true……player」

The information broker’s state was strange.

The former executive pressed his question.

「What do you mean!?」

「It was us……who made all humans login……and helped the plan of this  body’s owner. We will have humans perish. All of you are  unnecessary……both in reality……and in the virtual world」

The information broker stopped moving.

The egg shaped vehicle must have broke.

One of the bodyguards looked at the former executive.

「……Just what is going on here?」

The battle that the orc players thought was against the new management became chaotic with the participation of the NPCs.

The girls who were wearing headset got up.

The girls who were in their underwear.

They stood up, took off their underwear and tossed it away.

The room’s door was opened violently and armed men entered inside.

There was one man accompanied by a woman.

The man who was wearing a powered suit had the mark in the shape of silver wing on his shoulder.

The woman’s shoulder and the men’s shoulder also had the same mark.

「Ponsuke――Akito is really gutless huh. I can’t believe he didn’t do anything to beautiful women like this.」

The eight girls twitched.

They didn’t look embarrassed even though they were naked.

The man――Riku ordered to open the large box they brought here.

There were equipments for the girls in there.

There were powered suits and weapons for eight people.

「Don’t be jealous. I won’t touch my best friend’s woman.」

The girls were silently wearing the equipments with blank gaze.

After the girls finished equipping themselves, a transport aircraft landed vertically in front of the hotel.

Riku smiled.

「So reliable. You also think so right? ……Right, Ponsuke」

Riku――Rook said that and exited the room.
